When Capcom announced plans to release Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 some fans were torn. Sure, the updated game includes 12 brand new characters, new stages, and overall more content for gamers to enjoy.

However, Capcom has since confirmed that the only way to get all of the new Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 content is to re-purchase the updated game from retailers, because the new content will only be available on disc. This isn't the first time Capcom has pulled this stunt, but according to the third party giant they originally planned on releasing all of the content as downloadable add-ons for the original.

Famitsu magazine interviewed the Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 staff - who revealed that the Tohoku disaster that struck Japan this past March had a hand in the decision to release the new content on disc. According to the report, the team's health was another concern - as a result, Capcom decided to release all of the content at once in the form of a tangible disc instead of leaving massive gaps in between the release of new DLC.

Now that the developers behind Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 are back on track, there will be additional content coming in the future, and the staff did say that fans should expect new costume and mode add-ons. One of the new modes that was detailed in Famitsu creates a hostile environment by giving players access to unlimited Hyper Combos - which should make for some insane combo totals as well as tons of damage.

Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 Reveal

There's no debating that there is a lot of new and appealing content in the updated Marvel vs. Capcom 3, but paying an additional $40 for all of it is a bit steep. I'm sure those who already own the game wouldn't mind waiting for all of the content to become available for download either - so Capcom's reasoning doesn't really hold-up under scrutiny.

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is scheduled to release sometime this November - for a discounted price of $40 on both Xbox 360 and PS3.
