As UFC Undisputed 3 quickly approaches its romantic February 14th release date, fans of the series are probably wondering just what improvements have been made since the last iteration. One of the biggest concerns we have, as anyone who has played WWE 12 online can tell you, is the quality of the online experience. THQ hasn't had a great track record with implementing online capabilities into any of their past fighting games, but UFC Undisputed 3 aims to change that.
The list of online-based additions to the forthcoming MMA title are a step forward for the franchise, with the likes of community content sharing, improved online matchmaking, and highlight reels all being added to UFC Undisputed 3. As players square off with one another online, not only will they get the play-by-play experience, but they also earn the newly implemented Fighter Points. This new points system allows players to rank up to compare themselves to other opponents they face online.
UFC Undisputed 3's matchmaking will be somewhat of a standard affair. There are Ranked Matches, Quick Matches, and Custom Matches to choose from. If searching for a game doesn't sound all that appealing (and let's face it, you've got to be able to let your hair down once in awhile) then players have the revolutionary option called Create Session — allowing them to customize and host a match of their choosing. The previously mentioned Fighter Points will place individuals who fight through one of these modes on a Fight Camp leaderboard, meaning the competition can get pretty heated for those looking to claim the coveted number 1 spot.
Aside from the standard selection of online options and leaderboard system, there is also the much-needed highlight reel feature. UFC Undisputed 3 will automatically save the footage from your most recent fight, allowing players to go back and watch them. The game will retain footage from 50 of your most recent bouts, but if there's an unbelievable knockout you'd like to hold on to then there's the option to save the footage. If you feel so inclined, you can even cut and paste certain moments to create a highlight reel, which can then be flaunted in front of wannabe rivals.
Last, but not least, the creative options will be going a step further, allowing players from all of the world to interact with one another and post their own creations on the community hub to be downloaded and enjoyed by the masses. Everything from characters, logos, and highlight reels can be shared, with a ranking system allowing players throughout the world to grade the content as they see fit.
UFC Undisputed 3 plans on taking the fight from the octagon to the Xbox 360 and PS3 on February 14th.
