New 'UFC Personal Trainer' Trailer Showcases Workouts

UFC Personal Trainer Trailer Screenshots

The game partnered with UFC and the National Academy of Sports Medicine and looked to both to provide the game's core content. Real UFC trainers and fighters appear in the game to help players with their workouts and to provide motivation throughout. The game features both 30 and 60-day workout programs with workouts ranging from around 20 to 60 minutes.

While the game does feature real trainers and fighters and has them correctly performing martial-art moves, the game's intent is not to teach martial arts, but rather to show gamers how to follow the same exercise routine as mixed-martial artists.

Check out the new trailer yourself to get a taste of the game's various exercises:

UFC Personal Trainer looks like it could be fun and could possibly help people lose weight and gain muscle, but it seems odd to be doing so many punching bag, or sparring-like exercises when players won't be able to feel any real connection to the bag or gloves. One of the most satisfying parts of working out with bags is making that connection, actually punching or kicking something. Needless to say, it will be interesting to see how players react to this game and those exercises.

To get an idea of the interface and exercises that players will be using to get their hearts as healthy as the pros, check out a few newly released screenshots:

Hopefully no one accidently punches a hole in their TV or some other object that might be in the room while playing, but if this game can get someone interested and more focused on working out or get in better shape, than more power to it. If any brand could pull it off, UFC just might be the right one at the moment.

What is your take on UFC Personal Trainer? Do you think this game could help you achieve some or all of your fitness goals? Do you think this game will find the sales success that Wii Fit and EA Sports Active found? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

UFC Personal Trainer should punch its way to stores in June for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Nintendo Wii.
