UFC 4 has had a brand-new patch (Patch 2.03) to help fix some gameplay issues and major bugs. While not as noticeable as the patch that removed the real, in-game ads from UFC 4, it should make the game a little easier to play, as well as fix one major problem players have been having.

Several players have been getting a major bug when they launch UFC 4 that was commonly referred to as the "Purple Screen" bug. It turns the entire screen bright purple, makes the game unplayable, and forces a console reset in order to fix.

While UFC 4 is a highly-rated fan favorite in the boxing genre, a giant purple screen can make the magic fade for just about any game. But EA has worked hard to find and fix the glitch, releasing Patch 2.03 in hopes that it would fix the issue.

Patch 2.03 was released yesterday, September 6th, 2020. In the patch notes, EA noted that it fixed several bugs including the excessive headlock drain, removed haptic feedback from online modes, squashed some bugs involving flurries and feinted takedowns in UFC, and fixed an issue with damage received after posting strikes, among others. There was a lot of tuning and adjusting in hopes of making the experience of playing UFC 4 even better. The patch notes also mentioned that the purple screen issue has been hopefully remedied.

While the first thing on the list of the patch notes is "Fixed stability issues related to the purple screen bug," some players may still see the Purple Screen pop up from time to time. In a blog post, EA mentioned that it was nearly impossible to "pinpoint the exact cause," but the patch should  "eliminate or greatly reduce the frequency" of Purple Screens showing up during gameplay. This is good new news for mixed martial art and boxing game genre fans that just want to play without having to worry about a crash.

The complete patch notes are pretty lengthy, but it's a positive sign that the Purple Screen is something that EA is at least working on. The company claimed that it is monitoring the situation with the Purple Screen, hoping to eliminate it altogether. While bugs are going to happen in games of all genres, the Purple screen was an especially frustrating part of this new MMA fighting game. Now that Patch 2.03 is in place, fans should find it easier to play and even easier to continue to love.
