Since it was first announced, there hasn't been that much buzz surrounding Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. A little strange, since the trailer we showed not too long ago was sure to get fans of the series excited with the addition of territory control and takeover, and the ability to recruit assassins to your own cause. Essentially foot soldiers, the inclusion of your own guild of assassins means that we may get entirely new types of combat and mission delegation that we have yet to see from Assassin's Creed.

Now, Ubisoft has released another trailer for the game, intent on giving players a look at how Brotherhood will feel more than any game details:

As someone who was lukewarm for the first Assassin's Creed, I'm a little skeptical when it comes to trailers that show animations more than actual gameplay. But this is also the team that gave us the much-improved Assassin's Creed 2. We loved the game, and are collectively hoping that Ubisoft is setting a trend of improvement with each new game. I'd be lying if I said I've been looking forward to Brotherhood since it was announced, since the whole "not having the next number after the title" has always left gamers a little apprehensive. Is it a true sequel? Or is this an expansion with new game elements that just didn't make it into the last title?

But the showcasing of the territory takeover and recruitment changed the way I saw this game completely. From the glimpse we had, with the ability to upgrade, specialize, and assemble teams of your recruited assassins, that game mechanic in itself may be enough of a change to warrant a new game. Assassin's Creed was a gorgeous game when it first came out, and Assassin's Creed 2 was even better. So while some people expect a game to be better looking to warrant purchasing a new game, GTA IV says, "hi."

If in-game combat includes your team of assassins as much as this trailer would lead us to believe (I doubt it) then this game could be awesome. It's certainly trying to make this game look cooler than anything we've seen before, and the addition of a folksy song played over badassery is always a smart move. It's hard for me not to get psyched seeing this trailer, since those finishing move animations were one of my favorite parts of AC 2, and again when I saw them in Batman: Arkham Asylum. These look even better, so I'm in Ubisoft.

What's your take, Ranters? Have you had enough of Assassin's Creed, or are you willing to get a team together and take a stab at Brotherhood?

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood is out on the Xbox 360 and PS3 November 16th, 2010.
