Both Roller Champions and Project Orlando, which is set to be a codename for The Crew 3, have been spotted in the Steam database, signifying that Ubisoft could be gearing up for a return to the platform. Once, PC gamers were able to grab almost any title they wanted from the Steam store, but now there are plenty of different digital marketplaces that users have to download in order to get every game they'd like. From Battle.net to the Epic Games Store to Ubisoft's own Ubisoft Connect, there are a multitude of ways PC gamers can get new releases.
This has led to some developers and publishers ignoring the Steam store. Namely, some of Ubisoft's more recent titles have skipped out on launching on Valve's platform, instead being located on the store pages of other digital marketplaces. However, it does seem that Ubisoft might be gearing up for a return to the platform, as recently Assassin's Creed Valhalla was spotted on Steam's database.
Now, the same dataminer who unveiled Assassin's Creed Valhalla could be coming to Steam has also pointed out two more titles that may be on their way to the store. These games are Roller Champions, a free-to-play multiplayer title that launched earlier this year, and a beta known as Project Orlando, which is expected to be the next game in The Crew series according to prominent gaming insider Tom Henderson. Ubisoft has spoken to Henderson's Insider Gaming website on this matter, but didn't confirm or deny whether these games would be coming to Steam, only stating that it "doesn't comment on rumors and speculation."
Another interesting piece of information from this reported leak is the fact that Project Orlando is listed as a Beta, signifying that the game is well into its development cycle. At the time of writing, The Crew's next entry hasn't been announced, but should the information provided by dataminer YoobieRE prove to be true, Ubisoft could reveal the game soon. There have been some other big names announcing new games in the racing genre, so The Crew 3 may have competition when it does come out should Ubisoft be planning a launch sometime soon.
It would be interesting to see these Ubisoft titles being brought to Steam, as it would imply the company is making a return to the platform where so many of its titles are already. Steam database leaks do not confirm that a title is coming to the platform, but they can be a good indicator. Recently, the PS5 exclusive Returnal popped up on the Steam database, supporting other pieces of evidence that the roguelike was on its way to PC.
