In today's official Ubisoft Forward livestream, the Ubisoft team welcomed one of its new partners, Netflix, onto the virtual stage to announce some new games. Netflix VP of games, Mike Verdu, discussed the continued collaboration between Ubisoft and Netflix, which will bring three new games to the streaming platform. The announced games are sequels to Valiant Hearts and Mighty Quest for Epic Loot, as well as another Assassin's Creed title.
Netflix started offering mobile games for streaming customers in November of last year with the introduction of five games. The initial launch titles included two Stranger Things games, which are based on the popular Netflix Original by the same name. Netflix hasn't managed to make a splash on the game market yet, but it certainly is not stopping anytime soon. Ubisoft has been a close partner with Netflix during its journey into games, which includes releasing Stranger Things DLC on Far Cry.
There are going to be three Netflix-exclusive games from three separate Ubisoft franchises: Valiant Hearts, Mighty Quest, and Assassin's Creed. While there's still a lot to be unveiled about these games, Verdu did reveal some key details about them. Most importantly, all of them are going to be free to Netflix subscribers, and there aren't going to be any ads or controversial microtransactions. The first of them, the sequel to Valiant Hearts, is set to be released in January 2023, with the new Mighty Quest game coming later in 2023. There's no release date yet for the Assassin's Creed title.
Valiant Hearts 2 is the successor to Ubisoft's Valiant Hearts: The Great War, an adventure game inspired by LucasArts. According to Netflix, it is being developed by the team that was behind the original, which was one of the best World War 1 games. It's unclear whether the sequel is going to be set in World War 1 or proceed to a World War 2 theme. Netflix didn't reveal much about the successor to the action-adventure - or as Netflix likes to call it, roguelite-inspired hack-and-slash adventure - Mighty Quest for Epic Loot.
Lastly, the third game, and arguably the most interesting of the three, is going to be a new Assassin's Creed title. The game doesn't have a title yet and much of it is still under wraps, but what fans know is that it will coincide with the launch of the upcoming Assassin's Creed Netflix live-action TV series - though neither have a release date yet. All the games will be found via the Netflix app, which now has its own Games tab and can be downloaded via the App Store or Google Play.
