Following the success of Assassin's Creed Odyssey in 2018, Ubisoft has given the popular franchise some breathing room. Fans uncovered what looked to be an Assassin's Creed related Easter egg in The Division 2, leading to speculation that Ubisoft would unveil the next chapter a few months later at E3. As the show came and went without any news, Ubisoft has instead looked to the past to fill the void in 2019 with a Remastered version of Assassin's Creed III and potentially two more if the most recent link is to be believed.

The latest potential leak comes from Nibellion on Twitter, who highlighted another Tweet from NiXiE. The user spotted a listing on the Greek retail website, The Console Club, which featured a Nintendo Switch listing for Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, as well as the remastered version of Assassin's Creed Rogue. Unfortunately, the listing has since been taken down but based on images captured, the pair of games could be combined into a bundle of some sort. With this leak, many are expecting some sort of announcement in the next Nintendo Direct.

Ultimately, the news should be too surprising to fans as Ubisoft is no stranger to porting its games over to Nintendo's popular console. Games like both South Park titles, Child of Light: Ultimate Edition, and Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition have all made the jump from other platforms. In fact, the French company just released a remastered version of Assassin's Creed III for the Nintendo Switch, a package that also includes all DLC and the companion game Assassin's Creed III: Liberation as well. The game features quality of life improvements, optimizations, and Switch specific features like HD rumble, motion-controls, and a redesigned HUD.

As for what's next for the popular franchise, there's still a bit of debate as to where the series could be heading next. A popular theory based on an interview from CEO Yves Guillemot is that China could be the next destination. However, the currently codenamed Kingdom very well could be set in the Age of Vikings if the advertisement found in The Division 2 is indeed a subtle tease. The poster in question was discovered by players in the Valhalla exhibit at the Potomac Event Center and shows a man holding what appears to be an Apple of Eden with Viking longships in the background. With an expected release in 2020, players should have to wait too much longer for answers.
