Twitch streamer Felix Lengyel, also known as xQc, is no stranger to controversy. He is one of the most popular streamers on the platform behind channels such as Ninja, TFue, and Auronplay, and thrives in the Just Chatting category. Most of his Twitch debates happen very publicly on stream or over social media, which can make them quite the spectacle.

Over the past few days, Twitch audiences and subreddits such as r/LivestreamFail have been discussing a feud between xQc and Hasan Piker, also known as HasanAbi on Twitter and other platforms, which has led other streamers to pick sides as toxicity brews between communities. What began over a public breakup has evolved into a more complicated debate, especially alongside criticisms of the platform as Twitch creators are being accused of sexual assault amid other controversies.

xQc and Adept's Breakup Creates Big Drama

xqc adept break up

The initial drama began after it was publicly announced on September 16 that xQc and his girlfriend, streamer adeptthebest (who prefers to go by Adept), had broken up. Though xQc and Adept have broken up before, it's likely this is the final time given xQc cited that she didn't get along with his brother, and that their relationship was always turbulent.

Following xQc announcing the breakup on stream, Adept reacted to the clip by calling it "actual cringe" that her former boyfriend felt everyone needed to know. Allegedly, she had asked to keep the details private, but xQc had gone on to make it public anyway because he would often "do whatever the f- he wanted to do whenever he wanted to do it."

Post-breakup, xQc called Adept over the phone on stream, and the two had a lengthy conversation in front of thousands of viewers. He claimed that he made the phone call to allow her to explain her perspective so that xQc wouldn't misrepresent anything she said. Some fans believed he was farming content from the relationship, while others pointed out that Adept answered the call and talked knowing that xQc was streaming.

Streamers Clash Over QTCinderella's 'Shitcamp' Event

The public breakup led xQc to announce that he would not be attending 'Shitcamp,' an event where popular Twitch streamers participate in challenges and games together, which was being hosted by streamer QTCinderella. The last-minute decision led to many people being upset that xQc would not keep his promise to attend, similar to how he declined to participate in streamer Mizkif's Creator Clash back this May.

At first, xQc claimed he wasn't going to Shitcamp because long-time streamer Sodapoppin wasn't going, which led to Hasan calling him out on what he felt wasn't a good enough reason. Then xQc later clarified his choice came because he was simultaneously grieving his breakup with Adept and dealing with family issues.

Before this reveal, Hasan tweeted out that "xQc bailing last second on Shitcamp is obviously bad" because QTCinderalla had "busted her ass for the event and spent a lot of her own money to make content for everyone." The two began to debate during a stream on September 21, where Hasan said that he "called [xQc] out for treating other content creators like NPCs and not showing up to events last second," which he believes is disrespectful.

However, Hasan did apologize for attacking xQc's decision to not go to Shitcamp, as he felt that the recent breakup was a more appropriate reason. Over the past few days they have mostly moved on from discussing the breakup and the Shitcamp situation in favor of arguing over differing perspectives on Adrianah Lee's sexual assault allegations against streamer CrazySlick.

It remains to be seen what will become of the two streamers, as both xQc and Hasan once called each other friends and had relatively friendly Twitch communities. As it goes on the internet, people shouldn't assume they know what's happening in someone's personal life. This case is also a good example of being mindful over what arguments are performative to gain viewers while more serious issues are being discussed about platforms like Twitch.
