Twitch has revealed special spooky cheers for viewers to use while they're watching their favorite streamers. A total of six Halloween zombie emotes are available, with a chance to unlock a special seventh cheer if the set of six is completed. The special Halloween cheers can be unlocked by cheering at least 250 bits on an enabled channel, which will then provide a Halloween crate to the cheerer, which contains one of the six Halloween cheers.

Unfortunately, the Twitch Halloween crates provide a random cheer each time, so it's possible for viewers to receive duplicates. This could make completing the six-cheer set difficult and end up costing Twitch viewers quite a bit by the end. However, the main advantage to completing the set is that while the six Halloween cheers will only be usable through the end of the year, the seventh Zombie Lord Kappa cheer can be used forever. As such, it's a fair incentive to try and finish the set, especially for viewers who frequently cheer on their favorite streamers to begin with. Gamers who aren't interested in trying their luck can alternatively choose to spend 5000 bits at once in a single cheer, which will unlock the Zombie Lord Kappa emote for them permanently.

Twitch viewers who are interested in trying to get the set - or individual zombie cheers - will need to do so no later than November 3rd. At that point, the Halloween crates will no longer be available. In addition, cheering with more than 250 bits will not reward additional crates, even if cheering in multiples of 250, nor will viewers be able to add up to 250 with multiple cheers; the sole exception is the 5000-bit single cheer bonus.

Twitch has offered emote loot crates since earlier this year, as well as Twitch Prime loot boxes, so for many viewers, spending a little cash to unlock an emote may not come as anything new. However, the randomness of trying to unlock the final, permanent Halloween cheer via acquiring a full set may bother some, especially since it bears a strong resemblance to the loot crate systems in games that have been decried by their players.

The Twitch Halloween Crates can be acquired through November 3rd, and any of the main six unlocked cheers can be used until 2018.
