The annual Twitch event TwitchCon returned for the first time since the pandemic, and although he has attended the event in the past, popular streamer Felix "xQc" Lengyel had some harsh words for it. Declining to attend TwitchCon 2022, some of xQc's Twitch community members had questions about why he decided to stream from home during the duration of the event, and he answered candidly.

During a Twitch stream on July 20, xQc was asked numerous questions about TwitchCon and his reason for not attending the event. In the past, xQc had gone to multiple TwitchCons and was even kicked out for his actions at a pool party during the 2019 TwitchCon. This year xQc admitted to "falling off" in relevance on Twitch when viewers were talking about streaming awards, particularly pertaining to streamer of the year which was won by Ludwig who knocked out nominees like Mizkif and Sykkuno to earn the award.

Though Twitch viewers occasionally call streamers goblins, xQc himself said that people can see the "goblins in real life" if they attend event, but that buying a badge to the first in-person TwitchCon in years is "the same as buying an overpriced zoo ticket.” The popular Twitch streamer compared the lifestyle of attending TwitchCon regularly is "like an illness" and joked that viewers attending the event or watching videos of it are simply seeing the "absolute degen species from closer." It's unclear specifically why xQc didn't attend TwitchCon now that the event is back in operation, but it's likely that these sentiments played a role in him passing on the trip to Amsterdam.

Twitch streamers occasionally get embroiled in drama with each other and that's no different with xQc who has been critical of a Texas Twitch streaming house, had a back and forth with Asmongold that quickly resolved, and recently patched things up with Hasan Abi. During the July 20 livestream, xQc stated that life can feel more fulfilling if someone observes "an absolute failure" for themselves which may suggest that he harbors ill will towards one or more TwitchCon attendees. Because he went on to state that going to TwitchCon is "kind of based," it's currently unclear what xQc's true feelings about the event are.

Like with a lot of xQc's subjects, many of his viewers expressed their entertainment and echoed his sentiments while sharing various emojis. A couple of members of xQc's community resisted the majority by suggesting that his opinion on TwitchCon's first event since Coronavirus may be skewed by an undisclosed bias while some others referenced the parasocial dynamic some livestreamers have with their audience. Perhaps referring to these comments or knowing xQc was on one of many memorable streaks, one viewer called themselves an "honored chatter" during his July 20 Twitch rant.
