Twitch streamer XandYgirl was startled by her own "jump scare" donation tier. On this particular streaming platform, users can set custom tiers to play sound effects or tell the streamer to do something specific for viewer donations. This has lead to different outcomes, such as a streamer berating a fan for a $1 donation.

Why XandYgirl was startled by her own sound effect was because she had just come back from a 4 month-long break away from Twitch. Once she came back she had begun a stream to chat with her viewers to get back into the swing of things, and mentioned she had forgotten how everything on her channel worked.

In XandYgirl's case, viewers can try to jump scare her with a screaming sound effect for 300 bits. A regular viewer by the name of rek619 decided to take advantage and used 300 bits to activate the jump scare sound effect that was still available to them. From the way XandYgirl screamed and covered her ears, it seems like there was some merit to the comment about forgetting what exactly she had set up.

Once she had recovered from the rather startling loud sound blasting through her stream, XandY girl looked for who had sent the donation. The culprit, rek619, revealed themselves and XandYgirl immediately spoke about how she had a feeling it was them, and wished she had said so as it was happening. It ended up as a rather heartfelt exchange, as it was rek619's welcome back present of sorts. This moment serves as a reminder of how streamer and viewers can create a unique experience together, just like the incredibly well-timed Elden Ring-themed donation one streamer got while playing the game.

It's also rather clear that XandYgirl had no hard feelings over the sudden donation scare, despite how she claims she was startled so bad that she had a pain in her chest. She used the situation to joke that the pain was her suffering a heart attack, and also playfully told rek619 to apologize as the sound was so loud it could damage people's ear drums. While some Twitch viewers do things that annoy streamers, this incident seems to not have been one of them.

However, even though XandYgirl's connection with rek619 isn't in trouble, Twitch itself currently is. The Amazon-owned streaming service has currently been facing criticism from streamers like Corinna Kopf for banning gambling streams, among other controversial actions the platform has taken lately. These actions affect Twitch users in many ways, so those intent on using the platform should keep their eyes on what's happening.
