Halo Infinite recently released its multiplayer several weeks ahead of schedule. Following this unexpected announcement from the developers, numerous content creators have started playing it. Among those content creators is Twitch gaming star NICKMERCS.

As one of the most popular figures on Twitch, NICKMERCS gathers thousand of views each time he broadcasts on the platform. Over the years, he has made a name for himself playing countless hours of shooter games, such as Fortnite and Call of Duty: Warzone. Back in the day, he even played Halo at a competitive level. As a result of this previous history with the gaming genre, it was no surprise that his viewers wanted the streamer to try Halo Infinite.

During a stream on November 16, a day after the unexpected release of the multiplayer, NICKMERCS booted up Halo Infinite. Joining forces with some of his gaming squadmates, including Cloakzy, he played several multiplayer games. While he had fun playing the title, he wasn’t amazed by the gameplay.

The Twitch streamer posted a video to TikTok that summed up his overall impressions of the Halo Infinite multiplayer. According to NICKMERCS, Halo Infinite felt like the “same old s***.” Despite acknowledging that the gameplay was “pretty good,” he couldn’t help thinking that something was lacking to help set it apart from other games in the series. In addition to not feeling very original, he claimed that aim assist in the game seemed strange.

While these comments from NICKMERCS are disappointing for those wanting to see him play a lot of Halo Infinite, it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise to his fans that he has decided to continue to play Apex Legends instead. Since he left Call of Duty: Warzone due to issues with hackers, he has become a proponent of Respawn Entertainment’s battle royale. Recently, the popular streamer even achieved Apex Predator (the highest rank in the game) for the first time. Following his brief time in Halo Infinite, NICKMERCS has already returned to streaming Apex Legends on multiple occasions.

NICKMERCS isn’t the only streamer not loving the multiplayer in Halo Infinite. Recently, Shroud checked out Halo Infinite during a live stream. Despite playing several games of the multiplayer, he revealed that he wasn’t enjoying the game. However, he did admit that he was more excited for the campaign involving the Master Chief that releases on December 8.

With the hype surrounding Halo Infinite at an all-time high following the surprise release of the multiplayer, it will be interesting to see if NICKMERCS' opinion about the game remains the same over the coming months. Right now, he seems content to continue to grind Ranked in Apex Legends.

Halo Infinite releases on December 8 for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. The multiplayer beta is available now.
