During a recent Just Chatting Twitch stream, Piker confirmed that his community was able to raise $126,000 from merch sales in just one day. The proceeds that Piker generated will be donated to Strike Funds, which will ensure that union members who go on strike in the near future will be able to continue to support their families while fighting for changes to their collective agreement. Piker was enthusiastic about the money that his community was able to generate in such short order and expressed his gratitude.
Piker initially made the charity drive announcement on his Instagram, one of many social platforms that he has used to celebrate and update his community. The Twitch streamer is known for donating large sums to charity, having donated to Ktown For All recently. Piker has also spoken about big issues live on stream, specifically when he discussed the George Floyd protests in 2020 and the conflict in Palestine earlier this year.
Despite his charitable endeavours, Piker has been targeted by several Twitch viewers after they discovered how much money he makes due to a recent Twitch leak. This controversy came slightly after Piker was blasted by a portion of the Twitch community for purchasing a multi-million dollar home in West Hollywood. As a result of this backlash, Piker has teased quitting Twitch but doing big charity drives like the ones for Strike Funds may inspire the streamer to stick around.
While Piker is one of many Twitch streamers known for selling merchandise, his first line of merch was inspired by Unions and was dubbed Ideologie. Previous Piker merchandise featured memes alongside the popular Twitch streamer's face, but the Ideologie line took a different approach. The central t-shirt to the line features the Ideologie branding alongside the phrase "the thrill can kill." Another piece of the merchandise line depicts several workers on strike with picket signs saying "no value without labor," and "united we bargain, divided we beg."
Hasan Piker is also known as HasanAbi and he's one of Twitch's top streamers. Piker recently attended the big Twitch Rivals event in which he conversed and competed with other popular streamers. It's currently unclear just how much Piker intends to generate for Strike Funds or what charity the Twitch streamer will donate towards next. Piker is also known for recommending his fans donate to other worthy causes, suggesting that it's more about the message to him than the money.
