God of War's entire experience is a continuous shot from a third-person-perspective, and tells an engaging narrative about a father and son attempting to understand one another. The game is full of grand spectacles and cinematic effects, and it is entertaining to watch other players and streamers react to God of War's sensational mechanics.

Mimicking the ability that Thor has in Norse mythology to recall the hammer Mjolnir back to him, Kratos is able to do the same with the Leviathan Axe in God of War. Recently, a streamer's reaction has been resurfaced. This reaction reflects the experience that most fans had when they realized that the Leviathan Axe could be summoned back to their hand with a single button input.

A short clip has been shared from Twitch streamer GoldGlove's first playthrough of God of War. A fan who goes by ib770 has uploaded the video to reminisce upon the streamer's reaction. The clip is taken from the beginning of GoldGlove's playthrough, where the streamer is clearly unaware of God of War's mechanics. In fact, the video of GoldGlove is taken from streamed footage that aired around the time when the game had originally released. When GoldGlove experiences the particular mechanic, their reaction is humorous and relatable.

GoldGlove reads the game's tutorial prompts out loud as Kratos takes his son Atreus hunting. GoldGlove then appears confused as they are prompted to throw the axe at debris blocking a collapsed bridge. It seems to them that they will need to go retrieve the axe wherever it has landed, but they soon realize that is not the case. However, to GoldGlove's and many fans' surprise, the following tutorial prompt instructs players on how to swiftly recall the weapon. GoldGlove does not read this prompt aloud, and instead their mouth hangs open in disbelief and excitement.

Recalling the Leviathan Axe in God of War grants a unique sensation, with a surprising amount of weight that players can feel as the axe picks up speed and flies back into Kratos' grasp. Players have since experimented with extravagant axe throws, hurtling it into far distances before summoning it back. The axe reappears hurriedly toward the player with a clang of steel as Kratos catches it nonchalantly each time, pairing itself well with ranged attacks. Though combat has always been in the forefront throughout the God of War franchise, the latest entry has produced impressive mechanics with the Leviathan Axe for its structural reboot.

GoldGlove shares their joy in satisfied shouts upon experiencing the axe being recalled for the first time. Though God of War launched three years ago, fans have responded to ib770's clip saying that they remember their own reactions to the axe's recall mechanic being similar.

God of War is available now on PS4.
