Twitch is well-known for not being shy about handing out bans to streamers on its platform whether they are justified or not. Many popular streamers such as xQc face multiple bans throughout their streaming careers and luckily many of them are able to get unbanned and bounce back.

This time Twitch banned the most popular streamer on its platform, Alexandre "Gaules" Borba, seemingly without reason in the middle of one of his streams. The ban seemingly came out of nowhere as the 37-year-old Brazillian streamer has mostly kept his nose clean besides one incident back in 2020. The Counter-Strike: Global Offensive streamer called out 16-year-old Nathan "Leaf" Orf for cheating while acting as an analyst of a CS Summit match, but has since apologized.

Gaules' fame skyrocketed in recent years as he overtook xQC on the platform as the most-watched streamer. Gaules' streams generally entail co-streaming CSGO matches and he recently signed a deal with the NBA in May to co-stream basketball games. Gaules also happened to be co-streaming an NBA game at the time of his unexpected suspension. In reaction to his ban, Gaules merely tweeted a popular Brazillian meme stating "Torcedores Calma" which when directly translated from Portuguese means "Calm fans." Another popular streamer to be banned from Twitch recently was LivStix, although her ban seemed to be more cut and dry as it was based on her sporting "inappropriate attire" during one of her streams.

Luckily for Gaules, he was able to get in contact with Twitch admins who claimed his stream would be up and running within a few hours. After close to 10 hours Gaules was finally unbanned. However, both Gaules and Twitch have yet to issue any statement or comment as to why the popular streamer was banned in the first place. This once again brings up the popular topic of why Twitch is so trigger-happy when it comes to issuing its streamers with bans. Back in July, a California court attempted to force Twitch to be more transparent regarding its reasons behind bans but unfortunately, nothing has come of it as yet.

Another controversy surrounding Twitch bans which was revealed in the recent Twitch leak is the fact that some streamers are on a "do not ban" list. The majority of the streamers on the list were popular streamers that are known for being quite controversial such as Tyler1. It seems to be the right time for Twitch to become more transparent regarding their bans so that streamers will know what they can get away with and what could end up possibly ending their Twitch careers.
