A Twitch streamer has gone from 0 viewers to over 89,000 (and continuing to grow) after a wholesome video of her was posted to TikTok. While there have been a lot of controversies on the popular streaming platform lately, such as Asmongold calling a viewer "pathetic" after claiming to donate $3000 to another streamer, this video, and the message behind it, brought an entire group of people to an almost-unknown streamer. And now she has skyrocketed in popularity. By using their own social media platform on TikTok, a user has changed the life of this compassionate woman.
Twitch, while mostly focused on gaming, has been a source of all kinds of entertainment from different personalities since its launch in 2011. The woman that has now risen in popularity had 0 viewers when a TikTok user by the name of youtubekarve stumbled onto her channel. She was talking to no one, and youtubekarve became her 10th follower. After spending a short time chatting, youtubekarve decided to post a TikTok of their interaction, which set off a chain of shares and re-posts, and even a Reddit post, which helped the woman go from talking to one person on a random evening, to having an audience approaching 100,000.
In the TikTok video, youtubekarve says that he was randomly scrolling through Twitch channels with no viewers and "found this sweet lady who was talking and streaming to nobody." That sweet lady is Twitch user zebrapig4299. The TikTok user, whose real name is Cole Caetano, told the woman it was his birthday. She sang "Happy Birthday" for him, and then Caetano (whose username on Twitch is Karve7) asked her if she could say one thing to the world, what would it be? Her reply was, "to just be nicer to each other...yep, I think that's what I would say to the world. Just stop being mean." After that response, Caetano posted the video to TikTok and encouraged his followers to change her life. Even with controversies at Twitch, it's hard to not enjoy this wholesome video.
Zebrapig4299 now has over 90,000 followers on Twitch. Her "about" section on her profile on Twitch says that she is a "neurodivergent, chronic illness gaming nerd and nurse." And she, "loves talking about all things in the medical and gaming world." The original TikTok video now has over eight million views. A follow-up video was also made that now has over one million views. This isn't the first time Caetano has helped out Twitch streamers; he has also gone and asked for other streamers to sing "Happy Birthday" to him, and he has donated money to them and posted about it on TikTok. Twitch content creators pay it forward often, so hopefully, these acts of kindness continue.
While there seems to be a lot of negativity at Twitch nowadays, especially in regards to gambling on Twitch, this interaction between Caetano and zebrapig4299 will warm most people's hearts. Hopefully, there will be more interactions like this one in the future.
