Twitch chat has played Pokemon, attended weddings, and even beat a game as hard as Dark Souls, but streamer zerolove is taking things to a new level. The Twitch streamer will allow Twitch chat to cut his hair live on stream.

Zerolove shared a brief teaser for the stream, which will take place later today on his Twitch channel. He showed a robotic arm with a razor attached to the end and then the device started to move. Presumably, Twitch chat will be able to donate money to control the movement of the arm, if not more than that.

Although zerolove suggests at one point he considered scissors, the concept is safer than most think. With a safety guard attached to the razor, the worst that will likely happen is the robot arm makes contact with his head/hair and begins to cut. Whether or not it will look like a robot arm (and by extension Twitch chat) is cutting his hair is yet to be determined.

Zerolove has also built the Twitch commands to democratize responses, similar to how Twitch plays Pokemon and other chat-run events worked. Rather than take in every input, the program will choose the most common response and then direct the robot how to move.

Without that type of system, it would have been impossible for Twitch chat to beat a game like Dark Souls with trolls trying to steer the run off course. Similarly, those who might hope to instantly shave off a big chunk of hair will find that the system won’t work that way. Still, if things go like they should, the stream will be plenty entertaining.

The goal is to raise money the Feeding America charity, and in the process, zerolove should end up with a pretty gnarly haircut. Assuming that he doesn’t need to end the stream due to injury.

The Twitch streamer says he will eventually release a YouTube video explaining how everything works and even put the code on GitHub for those who might want to replicate the design. It’s certainly impressive looking but viewers will have to wait and see how it syncs up with Twitch chat.

Twitch streamers have performed tons of different acts and subjected themselves to plenty of humiliations in order to raise money for charity, but this is easily one of the most creative. Those who want to see whether zerolove comes out bald or with a stylish new ‘do can tune in around 4:30pm PT to the stream.
