The prolific Twitch streamer Pokimane has found herself in the news regularly as of late, and a lot of it comes back to a recent controversy between her and another streamer by the name of JiDion, who encouraged his viewers to hate raid Pokimane's chat. This not only resulted in a Pokimane ending her stream early so that her audience wouldn't be similarly harassed by the raiders, but JiDion was slapped with a 14-day ban which was shortly after amended into a permanent ban, as the action is strictly against Twitch's Terms of Service. While many have voiced their support for Pokimane following this chain of events, Ninja's stance is a bit more complicated.

Somehow, this ban resulted in Ninja's team threatening to sue Pokimane for defamation. This is a nebulous turn of events that even Pokimane herself seems confused about, but clips and videos of JiDion, Pokimane, and Ninja's live feeds connect the dots to some degree.

JiDion's Reaction to the Permanent Ban

Though he felt that the initial 14-day ban was deserved for breaking Twitch's guidelines, he's been fighting back against the permanent ban since Twitch made the change. In addition to starting a hashtag on Twitter, he also turned to Twitch streamer Ninja for help in getting the ban reversed. While both streamers were live on their respective platforms, JiDion gifted Ninja 100 subs in a request for ridding the ban of its permanence. Pokimane would later explain the sequence of events in her own words, however, there are videos online that clearly verify what she's saying happened.

Multiple times, Ninja voiced skepticism to JiDion and his audience that there would be little to nothing he could do to reverse the Twitch ban. However, he also said, "I can send a text," sardonically and with doubt that anything would change. Later, in the same video shown above, Ninja states, "Alright, I sent the text." However, private messages to Pokimane would later claim that this never actually occurred. As for JiDion, it's unclear if anything will change regarding his ban's severity, but he's changed his tune from mocking Poki and calling her profanities to "dropping it" and asking his audience to do the same.

Why Ninja's Team Is Threatening To Sue Pokimane

A couple of different private messages to Pokimane would claim that Ninja never actually sent a text to any Twitch representative. Coming first was a message from Ninja himself that says, "I swear on my grandfathers [sic] life . . . that I didn't text my twitch rep." He immediately followed up by saying that Poki was "making a big mistake."

Ninja's wife Jessica Blevins would also direct message Poki, calling her explanation of the events, despite them being verbatim of Ninja's own words as shown in the video, "defamation of character" and that they were bringing in their legal team. She claimed that Pokimane was "spewing lies" about Ninja regarding the fact that he appeared to have reached out to a Twitch representative. Blevins also said that Pokimane has caused the "highest level" of harassment.

In response to this aggressive message, Poki would pointedly tweet that Ninja likely pretended to tweet his representative but never actually did, saying she was "willing to accept" this reality. It's likely that Ninja and his team are trying to protect his brand from any kind of ties to supporting hate raids against women, though the result may look like an overreaction. Ninja had previously given his stance on JiDion's Twitch ban, saying that he gave the smaller streamer a talk about the inappropriate nature of sending viewers to harass other streamers. Going forward, there may be nothing left to say about the situation and things may calm down, or Ninja's team may actually move forward with suing the female Twitch streamer, but the threat may have just been for show.
