Back in January, popular Spanish streamer TheGrefg broke Twitch concurrent viewership records and now another Spanish streamer has surpassed one million concurrent viewers ahead of a recent boxing event.

Twitch streamer Ibai surpassed a huge milestone on the platform after his channel quickly reached over 1 million viewers for his "La Velada Del Año" boxing event on YouTube. In total, Ibai reached 1,502,295 active viewers during his recent boxing stream according to Twitch data site SullyGnome and confirmed by Dexerto.

TheGrefg Fortnite Icon series skin reveal achieved a 2,298,485 peak audience back in January, breaking his previously set record of 660,000 which he reached during the Fortnite Galactus Event. Ibai was around 800,000 viewers short of reaching TheGrefg's impressive numbers, but he has officially become the second Twitch streamer to surpass 1 million peak viewers.

The next closest streamer to accomplish these numbers is Ninja. Ninja reached about 635,000 viewers in 2018 during a Fortnite stream in which he teamed up with popular rappers Drake and Travis Scott, and talented wide-receiver Juju Smith-Schuster. Ninja set this bar in the early days of Twitch back in 2018, but the Spanish streaming community continues to raise the bar as Twitch's popularity expands around the world.

Since hitting over one million concurrent Twitch viewers on his recent stream, Ibai has boldly pledged to get into the ring in the next boxing event. He assured his viewers that if he could reach over one million people, he would organize another boxing event on May 26, 2022 in order to have a fight of his own. Ibai has hinted that he has a couple of rivals he's thinking about fighting, but no official opponent for the boxing event next year has been revealed yet.

TheGrefg broke his own Twitch record to reach over two million concurrent viewers so it's entirely possible that Ibai can break his record of 1,502,295 concurrent viewers. Part of the appeal to viewers for Ibai to reach one million concurrent viewers was the prospect of seeing him fight in a future boxing event, so that event may be how Ibai exceeds his second-place spot behind TheGrefg. Ibai fans continue to speculate on who his boxing opponent will next year but it may be a while before the streamer announces who it will be.

Considering the fact that TheGrefg and Ibai are both from Spain, the Spanish-speaking community of Twitch is showing up in droves to support their local streamers. While Ibai may never surpass TheGrefg's number one Twitch concurrent viewership record, the streamer has helped solidify Spain as a central hub for prospective full-time streamers.
