Some high profile streamer getting banned on Twitch seems to be weekly news at this point, but one unfortunate streamer found themselves on the wrong side of the ban hammer by mistake. The streamer in question is JonZherka, and although he wasn't technically banned, his account was blocked for a solid three months before the platform realized it made an error. To make matters worse, it doesn't seem as though JonZherka was sitting around during this period either, as he tried to get in contact with the streaming service to have the block removed.

Video game streaming service Twitch is one of a kind, as it doesn't have much competition to stand up to it. Microsoft's Mixer was the closest it came, but that shut down not long ago. Instead, all that's really left is YouTube, but that platform is much more well known for pre-recorded videos than livestreams.

JonZherka shared the email he received from Twitch on his Twitter account, and the brevity of the email might convince onlookers that it wasn't really a big deal. In just three short sentences, Twitch explains that the account was suspended "due to a mistake on [Twitch's] part," but that the issue has been reversed. The email closes out with Twitch informing JonZherka that he is "free to use [Twitch's] services again and a short apology. Reaction to this email online has not been positive, as many fans feel this isn't enough to make up for the mistake.

While having a Twitch account suspended for three months may not be a huge deal for standard viewers, it could have major repercussions for content creators themselves. For starters, many of these creators use Twitch as their primary source of income, so cutting that off for three months due to a mistake is definitely not great. What's more, it puts a damper on any upward growth a streamer might have been experiencing, as it is hard to grow one's channel when that channel is blocked for an indeterminate amount of time.

Twitch has yet to make any further comment on this situation, but public opinion of the platform continues to worsen. While mistakes like this can happen and are understandable to a degree, viewers would want JonZherka to be appropriately compensated for the mistake, and for other streamers to not have to be fearful that the same might happen to them. On the bright side, JonZherka should be getting back to his streams as normal after this unplanned three month break.
