Popular Twitch streamer Asmongold is no stranger to taking breaks from livestreaming and although he recently came back from one, he's stepping away again. According to Asmongold, this break is due to the stress of his mother's illness and a house fire that happened recently.
Asmongold has been transparent with his audience about his mother's recent illness as she's been back and forth between his home and the hospital. His mother is fighting a lung illness and she's connected to an oxygen machine due to her breathing issues. The Twitch streamer recently made a video to explain a recent update about his mother's declining health and his anxiety pertaining to the situation.
After a recent livestream where Asmongold admitted to not feeling himself, the Twitch streamer ran a Pepsi to his mother and went to lay down after a brief conversation with her. Asmongold's room is directly across from his mother's and shortly after talking to her, the Twitch streamer heard a loud crash and saw a bunch of lights in her room. Although Asmongold didn't hear any calls for help from his mother, he immediately got up to investigated the situation.
Upon entering her room, Asmongold discovered that his mom was smoking cigarettes too close to her oxygen machine and her room had caught fire as a result. Asmongold stated that the scene felt like a cartoon with how the fire continuously crept closer to the oxygen machine, comparing it to a fire approaching a bomb.
While putting out the fires, Asmongold was also able to turn off the oxygen machine, preventing any further incidents from happening. Asmongold was quick to put out the fire in his mother's room, but it was too late and the damage had been done. According to the Twitch streamer, his mom was unable to speak after the initial explosion due to being thrown out of her chair and the wind being knocked out of her. Asmongold has confirmed that his mother's illness is unrelated to COVID-19.
After putting the fires out, Asmongold called 911 and paramedics were quick to show up to assess the situation and help Asmongold's mother. Because she required oxygen, the paramedics put her on a breathing tube before driving her to the hospital and Asmongold assured his audience that "first responders are just absolute gods." Asmongold stated that it was one of the scariest experiences of his life, but he's back in contact with his mother who's recovering.
Asmongold was one of many Twitch streamers who have had their personal information leaked recently. The income of many Twitch streamers was among the source code, and "no ban" Twitch leaks that went public several days ago. Asmongold has since gone on the record to discuss his Twitch earnings with his audience, disputing the accuracy of the leak.
