With many new TV shows premiering each year, some of which go on to run for a long time, it's only natural that multiple shows also get canceled. Sometimes it happens after they've been airing for years and the story has simply run its course.

The less positive scenario is when the series is canceled after just one season, perhaps unexpectedly, so it might even end up on a major cliffhanger! Whatever the case, even though 2022 is far from over, multiple series have already been canceled this year which presents bad news for all of their fans who have grown to like the shows and their heroes.

5 The Baby-Sitters Club

The Baby-Sitters Club

Even though the final episode of the season aired in 2021, the Netflix show The Baby-Sitters Club hasn't been officially canceled until March 2022. With two seasons under its belt, The Baby-Sitters Club joins the list of Netflix series that has been canceled not long after its release. As the title suggests, the series centers on a group of young girls who form a babysitters club, a decision that brings a lot of chaos into their lives, but also cements their friendship as time progresses.

The main cast was sympathetic and their life stories were relatable as the show dealt with topics such as the first love or problems in school. Those viewers who enjoyed the show and are sad its ending should try out the book series the show is based on as the book series has many parts, giving the fans a lot of content to enjoy!

4 Legacies

Legacies

Vampires, werewolves, witches, and other supernatural beings are popular, but that doesn't mean that any show working with them is going to run forever. The Vampire Diaries and The Originals spin-off series Legacies that focused on young heroes, sometimes offspring of the well-known characters established in other shows, has come to an end as well. And unlike its predecessors, which ran for eight seasons (The Vampire Diaries) and five seasons (The Originals), Legacies have been canceled after its fourth season, making it the shortest-lived series from this universe so far.

So even though the fans will no longer be seeing their favorite characters onscreen, at least they can be comforted by the fact that the show's finale shouldn't leave as many questions unanswered. The show's creators knew that the show was at risk of being canceled, and so they wrote the fourth season's finale to fit this possibility and give both the heroes and the viewers a satisfying conclusion.

3 Legends Of Tomorrow

For seven seasons, the crew of the time-traveling ship experienced various adventures, fixed history (and sometimes broke it), and, of course, fought many villains. Originally comprised of supporting characters of Arrow and The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow changed its main cast several times, with the team members coming and going, to the dismay of some fans who no longer had their favorites in the show. Despite that, the show didn't lose its charm as it easily became the most free-spirited Arrowverse series and nobody knew what to expect from the next episode.

However, all good things must end, and after seven seasons and one unfortunate cliffhanger ending, Legends of Tomorrow is done. The good news is that since Arrowverse is such a big universe, there's no reason why some characters from the show couldn't appear in other shows, such as The Flash which has been renewed for its ninth season. Other CW superhero shows that have been canceled this year include Batwoman (after three seasons) and the latest, Naomi (after just one season).

2 Mr. Mayor

Mr. Mayor

Even a well-known name in the leading role is no guarantee that a show will go on to have many seasons. Ted Danson is familiar to all TV fans, having starred in multiple series, such as the recent imaginative fantasy comedy The Good Place. But unlike The Good Place, Mr. Mayor didn't become such a hit and got canceled after just two seasons.

At least fans of Ted Danson and the rest of the cast who haven't had the time to watch the show yet can easily binge-watch it now as the two seasons have only twenty episodes in total. Mr. Mayor works with multiple storylines and was written by Tina Fey, who's no stranger to comedy, making it one of the pieces every sitcom fan should at least try. It's possible to stream the series on Peacock.

1 Pivoting

Pivoting

As one of the most popular genres, sitcoms and comedies are in abundance, and each year dozens of such shows premiere. That means that sometimes even good shows get canceled, simply because the competition is so high. Pivoting has both solid casting and a fun story, but it still wasn't enough to keep the show on the air for more than one season and ten episodes in total.

Once again, at least it's possible to binge-watch the season in a short amount of time now that it's officially over. Pivoting tells the stories of three female friends, portrayed by Maggie Q, Ginnifer Goodwin, and Eliza Coupe, who make unexpected and sometimes unwise life decisions as they try to come to terms with the death of their friend Colleen.
