Better late than never, it appears the remaster of the N64 classic Turok may finally be coming to the PS4 after being released on the Xbox One two years ago, if a recent trophy list leak is to be believed.

Originally released in 1997, Turok was a first-person shooter based on a dinosaur-hunting comic book character of the same name from 1954. The game was (naturally) about hunting dinosaurs from a place called the Lost Land in order to keep them from reaching planet Earth. The sequel expanded on the lore of Turok’s world and threw aliens into the mix for good measure.

The franchise was held Acclaim and developed by Acclaim Studios Austin (then known as Iguana Entertainment) until the studio and publisher filed for bankruptcy in 2003. In 2008 developer Propaganda Games and publisher Touchstone Games took over the license and attempted a somewhat unsuccessful reboot. A sequel to the reboot was in development before being canceled following massive layoffs at Propaganda.

Touchstone was under the umbrella of Disney, and as such was shuddered along with everything else Disney game-related in 2016. Then, in 2018, the N64 Turok, along with its sequel Turok 2: Seeds of Evil, were given a visual touchup by Night Dive Studios and were released on Xbox One 2018.

The PlayStation trophy and Xbox One achievement tracking website Exophase checks the Sony and Microsoft servers for newly uploaded data constantly. Sometimes the trophy data is posted before the game itself is announced, like with Untitled Goose Game for PS4 and Xbox One, sometimes to prepare for a surprise launch of a game. This is usually a guarantee that a game is coming soon to PS4, though it has yet to be confirmed by Night Dive Studios.

This wouldn’t be a massive surprise, as the Turok remaster was released last year on Nintendo Switch as well. The trophy list for Turok 2 has not shown up on Exophase yet, so it remains to be seen if that game will come to PS4 as well. Still, fans of the N64 classic who haven’t had the chance to check out the remaster should be looking forward to possible announcement soon.

Turok and Turok 2 are available on PC, Switch, and Xbox One.
