New Turok Game Revealed, But It's Really Different

turok escape from lost valley revealed

It has been more than 10 years since a new Turok game was released, and some fans of the franchise have been holding out hope that a modern entry in the series will eventually be released. For these fans, some potentially exciting information has emerged over the past day, as a new Turok game, Turok: Escape from Lost Valley, has surfaced. That said, this new Turok title may not quite be the game that these players were expecting.

Turok: Escape from Lost Valley is a third person action-adventure game with a cute animated style. While elements from Turok: Escape from Lost Valley, such as its protagonist and creatures, will be familiar to those that have played the original Turok, and beyond, this is certainly a significant departure from the series' previous offerings.

The details that are currently available on this new Turok game come from a Steam page that was discovered just yesterday. This page lists the Turok: Escape from Lost Valley release date as July 25, and it offers a bit more information on what fans can expect from the experience. More specifically, Turok: Escape from Lost Valley will put players in the shoes of Turok, who will use a knife and bow as he attempts to leave Lost Valley and make his way back home.

The developer of Turok: Escape from Lost Valley is Pillow Pig Games, and the title was one of the runners-up in the recent Universal GameDev Challenge, which tasked independent studios with creating a new game from a franchise owned by Universal. There were almost 550 submissions to the Universal GameDev Challenge, and the fact that Turok: Escape from Lost Valley rose to the top is a testament to the work that Pillow Pig Games did on the title.

While some players may be disappointed that the next Turok game is not an updated take on the first person shooting that the franchise is known for, others are certain to find something to love in Turok: Escape from Lost Valley. For those that are not interested in trying out the new game though, the recent Turok port for Switch might scratch the dinosaur hunting itch for the time being.

Turok: Escape from Lost Valley will release on July 25, 2019 for PC.
