The name Hideo Kojima is known throughout the gaming land. As the creative mind behind the Metal Gear Solid franchise, as well as Death Stranding, and the doomed P.T. his status has become almost legendary, given his skills in crafting complex stories and interesting worlds. With Kojima's rumored Xbox game being talked about, the Japanese game director has recently been celebrating his 58th birthday, in which he left a rather impassioned message about his future and his career.

Taking to Twitter yesterday, Hideo Kojima spoke about the fact that he's getting older now. However, he says he does not intend to give up his career just yet, adding that his body may be "failing" him, but he is aiming to carry on making games until his brain "loses its creative powers." In a second tweet underneath, he also made a joke about how he's the same age as Brad Pitt, and that Tom Cruise is only a year older than him. It seems as though he has not turned into some grumpy old man so far, even if Kojima did criticize digital media recently.

Although he's well-known for bringing to the fore some highly-priased titles, he's also a fan of entertainment, particularly music and film, though he doesn't often say much about video games. However, a few days ago, Kojima offered kind words to the indie time-loop release 12 Minutes, saying that he lost track of time himself whilst playing it, and comparing it to his love and appreciation for Playdead's 2016 game INSIDE. On top of things, he has said that the game has inspired him to maybe one day return to adventure gaming.

He's also been experiencing something of a backlash lately. With Kojima and Microsoft planning to work on an upcoming project, it seems not everyone has been happy about the news. Some fans even went as far as to start an online petition to get the as-yet-untitled game scrapped, saying that Kojima is only working with the company for reasons of "greed," adding that they would much prefer him to return to Sony.

Despite this, he still has quite the loyal fan base. With many replying to his tweets to wish him a happy birthday, and the man himself proclaiming that he has no plans to quit the business, fans can continue to play Hideo Kojima's impressive body of work, while anticipating what he'll get up to next. Who knows how long he'll keep creating, but hopefully it will be for a good long while.
