March is almost here, and along with its arrival, several new games are expected to come to Xbox. Some of the big-name titles launching on the system next month include Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands and WWE 2K22. However, there are some smaller games expected to release soon as well. Among the indie titles slated to arrive is Tunic.

Tunic has been in the works for a while now, with fans having been teased bits of information about the project since 2017. It is an isometric action game with an eye-catching visual style. While the game features some impressive combat and exploration elements, perhaps the biggest highlight is that it stars an adorable fox. While it appears that the wait is almost over for eager fans that are ready to get their hands on this anticipated title, it is not all good news.

Recently, fans learned more details about the upcoming launch of the game. Unfortunately, this news was likely not what some fans wanted to hear. Specifically, it was revealed that Tunic would not be making its way to Game Pass on day one. This news came directly from the official Twitter account for Finji, the publisher of the upcoming game. After being asked by a fellow Twitter user if Tunic would release on Xbox Game Pass, the developer responded by saying that "Tunic is not an Xbox Game Pass title."

With that said, Tunic will still be coming to Xbox at release on March 16. In fact, it is the only console expected to support the game at launch. So while it will not be free via Game Pass, players anxious to try out the game still have an avenue for doing so.

Even though this news is doubtlessly disappointing for those wanting to grab the title on Game Pass, there is always the possibility that it could come to the subscription-based service in the future. Seemingly every week, more and more games are added to the Game Pass library. With this in mind, it could be just a matter of time before it makes its way onto the service.

Despite Tunic not making a day one appearance on Game Pass, there are a number of other reasons for subscribers to be excited for the weeks ahead. Some of the other games expected to launch on the service in the coming days include FAR: Changing Tides on March 1 and Crusader Kings 3 on March 29.

Tunic is set to release on March 16 for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
