Here we go again ladies and gentlemen. It seems like we can’t go a news day without it, but once again we have another enticing collector’s edition attempting to get excited gamers to open up their pocketbooks. This time the game dangling pretty neon colors in front of your face is the upcoming Tron: Evolution.

Included with your copy of the game for Xbox 360 or the PlayStation 3 are two somewhat novel trinkets, one more toy-like and another a bit more useful. The first is a protective drawer in which gamers can store their copy of Tron: Evolution and the second item is a model of a lightcycle made by Sideshow Collectibles. Size-wise it looks like the collectible is somewhere around 9 inches long and perhaps 3 inches tall but it is hard to speculate based on the picture. Haven’t you ever experienced rummaging through your dirty room looking for your copy of a certain game? Well now fear no more because you will know exactly where to find your copy.

Though this shows some foresight on Disney Interactive’s part, I find these bonuses a bit lackluster. As a huge fan of the property I expect a lightcycle to be included with everything Tron related, from my Happy Meal to my DVD of the first movie. But when it comes to selling me on a game that is being touted as one to break the trend of video games based on films this seems like a lazy attempt.

If you want a better understanding of the forthcoming film, the game will serve its purpose better than it might otherwise. Combat looks intriguing and the game feels like a slam dunk when it comes to properties that would make great games. While a lot of promise is held in one hand, a light disc might be hiding in the other ready to knock you unconscious and take your money.

What do you think of this collector’s edition? Does it sell you on the game or does it seem like a pitiful attempt to get more money? Let us know in the comments below.

Tron: Evolution makes its way back to Flynn’s Arcade on December 7th on the Xbox 360, PS3, Nintendo DS, and the PSP.
