Players everywhere are getting the chance to put away their strings and take out their slides with Trombone Champ, the newest musical simulator making waves. While at first glance the game appears to be just a simple "pick a song and go," there is more to it, including unlocking a variety of Trombones to play on. This is how to get all the Trombones available in the game.

As players make their way through the game, they'll notice there's more to this little gem than just playing through songs while imitating a Trombone. There is an actual story to complete underneath the pomp and circumstance and as players progress through it, they'll need to unlock each color of Trombone available.

How to Unlock Every Trombone Color in Trombone Champ

There are eight colors in total, only one of which (lacquer brass) is unlocked from the start. The others will require players to jam out, spend turds, and make a few deals with the devil. As songs are completed, players will earn an in-game currency known as Toots. In the Collection Menu (accessed from the Main Menu), players can turn these "Toots" into "Turds" which will allow them to purchase card packs.

These card packs each have five collector cards in them which can be viewed on the Collection Menu itself. There is 50 Cards total to collect, but players will need duplicates of a handful before they can get the last Trombone color, the Champ, which is more Diamond. They can also use Turds to purchase cards directly for 399 Turds each. The order in which the colors will unlock is Silver (this will unlock the achievement Aesthete), Red, Blue, Green, Pink, Polygon, and then, of course, The Champ (unlocking this Trombone will also earn players the achievement "Apex Aesthete").

The cards players will need as duplicates will be chosen at random, so, unfortunately, there's no list available for which ones they'll want to keep extras of. There is even a chance that the player will need three or four of a single card. Luckily, though, earning the Toots (and, in turn, Turds) required for them won't be too terrible to grind out should players not have the exact cards they need. To actually spend the Collector Cards to earn new Trombone colors, players will be dealing with the Devil.

Trombone Champ Color Candle

On the Collection Menu screen, there is a small candle (the Chaos Candle) in the bottom right corner. When players click on the candle a few times in quick succession, the Devil will appear. For the first six Trombones, the Devil will ask the player to exchange three random Collector Cards for a Treasure Chest. The Treasure Chest needs to be clicked 99 times to be unlocked, though this can be changed in the settings menu to make it much less.

Once the chest is opened, the player will earn a new Trombone. If the player doesn't have the cards required, they can exchange all three for a new set for 100 Turds. There is no limit to the number of exchanges a player can make, but since the Collector Cards cost Turds as well, how often players use the feature should be determined by how many Cards and duplicates they have. If a player is short on cards, the exchange feature should be avoided. If a player has a plentiful amount of cards, they can use the exchange feature sparingly.

After the Polygon Trombone is unlocked, the player will need to make one more deal with the Devil, and, compared to the previous six, it's a big one. Instead of asking for three cards in exchange for the Trombone, players will need to exchange one of each card for the final Trombone, The Champ. If the player is missing any cards, it'll be much easier to purchase the card packs, then sell anything that isn't needed.

With the Turds earned from selling the cards, the missing ones can be purchased individually. The only cards players should be mindful of keeping duplicates of are "Bass Clef" and "Trazom", both of which are required to complete the actual Story. When one of each card has been collected (except for the two mentioned just above), players can turn them into the Devil, after which they'll get the final Champ Trombone.
