Tribes of Midgard can be a difficult game. Even before the onslaught of Midgard's giants, players still need to deal with hostile wildlife while rapidly scrounging for resources.

This is intimidating, but it can be made easier using the right equipment. Finding a strong weapon can make a run of Tribes of Midgard much more manageable. It's easier to move from place to place when not swarmed by enemies, after all.

Several strong early weapons, such as Alviss' Hammer or the Nornir Axe, require a specific resource to craft: The Linnorm Spike. Players should make collecting these a priority early on, especially ones tackling Tribes of Midgard solo.

Where to Find Linnorm Spikes

As the name suggests, the Linnorm spike can be found by killing Linnorms. These look like large brown snake dragons, and they spawn early on in the Land of Pools biome. Players should be able to encounter them early on in a session.

Aside from Linnorm spikes, they also drop health potions and souls, so they're still a good target to farm even if a player isn't looking for specific gear. Health potions are always useful, and souls are one of Midgard's most prized resources.

The Linnorm are lightning-based enemies, meaning they're weak to dark element equipment.

Who Should Hunt The Linnorm

Tribes of Midgard has multiple classes with wildly different abilities, and some will be more useful than others with this task.

The Ranger is, as the name suggests, a distance fighter. They also have a blessing that allows them a wider view of the surrounding area, thanks to help from friendly ravens. This will be useful when searching for Linnorm.

The Seer is an effective healer, which is good if multiple players are hunting. They also have effective crowd control and AOE spells, which could be lifesaving if players run into a group of Linnorm.

If the party doesn't have a healer, or are playing solo, The Sentinel might be a good choice for facing these enemies. They can self-heal and are likely to stun opponents.

The Hunter can lay traps and create decoys, allowing them to safely deal damage from a distance. If things go wrong, they can also drop a respawn totem near the battle, putting them right back into the heat of battle after death.

The Warden is not well equipped for combat, but wardens are able to craft items using fewer materials, and they can teleport to the village, which means less time farming for resources.
