Ubisoft has released details about the upcoming Season 4 track pack for Trials Rising, the motorcycle racing game developed by RedLynx and Ubisoft Kiev.

The Polar Expedition track pack will be available on January 5, 2020, and will introduce five new winter-themed tracks for racers to test out their skills. This frost-covered track pack should cheer up anybody who missed out on the two-week holiday event that finished up at the end of December.

The Permafrost track for Trials Rising takes place mostly in the air above a brightly colored Greenland village surrounded by glaciers. On the Glacial Mass track players will race across a melting glacier and try to outpace sinking icebergs. Inuit’s Paradise is set against the mesmerizing backdrop of the Northern Lights and promises to challenge racers’ technical abilities. A military station during a snowstorm is where the track Out Cold begins, but it soon leads underground to the possible discovery of hidden military secrets. And the last track, Iceferno, likens itself to the Ninth Circle of Hell from Dante’s Inferno, which takes place on the ice of a frozen lake.

Released in 2019, Trials Rising is the sixth title in a series of racing games that first appeared in the year 2000 with Trials, a Java-based web browser game. The popularity of that game led to a Flash-based sequel as well as a number of expansions and spin-off titles, and eventually the series made its way to consoles in 2009. The Trials series features a 2.5D world with simulated physics and the races are based on real-life motorcycle trials in which players must navigate through a variety of obstacles and jumps.

Trials Rising offers challenging tracks set in different locations around the world such as the Eiffel Tower, Mount Everest, and the Great Wall of China, and online multiplayer allows racers to view one another’s best times and try to beat them. The game also introduced Track Central, which gives players the ability to build custom obstacle courses using hundreds of different components and share them with others. Also new to Trials Rising is the Tandem Bike mode that allows two friends to control a single bike together.

Trials Rising is available on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
