Last summer, Leonard Menchiari, Flying Wild Hog, and Devolver Digital announced Trek to Yomi, a black-and-white samurai game set in feudal Japan. Trek to Yomi received an official announcement trailer back at at E3 2019 that briefly panned through cinematic shots that demonstrated gameplay mechanics and teased its mythic narrative.

Trek to Yomi is highly stylized with an artistic design representative of filmmaker Akira Kurosawa's work, drawing parallels to Ghost of Tsushima's own authentic homages to traditional samurai films. Trek to Yomi's unique camera angles and presentation allow it to stand apart from other titles as it bridges the genre gap between a 3D, third-person action-adventure and a 2D side-scroller. Now, Trek to Yomi has offered new information that is sure to excite Xbox and PC users.

Today, it was announced alongside a gameplay trailer that Trek to Yomi is confirmed for Xbox Game Pass. Users subscribed to Xbox Game Pass' curated library will be fortunate enough to get their hands on Trek to Yomi when it launches, though there is still no release date yet for Trek to Yomi besides a 2022 window. It is also revealed with Devolver Digital's gameplay trailer that Trek to Yomi will in fact arrive on current generation consoles as well as PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Devolver Digital's gameplay trailer for Trek to Yomi portrays more about the game's mythical story, swordsman combat, and environmental traversal. Fixed camera angles seem to rapidly respond to where players are in order to secure the most cinematic frames for each environmental backdrop. Combat is shown squarely in wide-angled shots with fluid animations for lethal attacks. Trek to Yomi's enemies are described as "vicious swordsmen and supernatural beings," so players can expect the narrative to twist and turn during Hiroki's "voyage beyond life and death."

Trek to Yomi is yet another incentive for players to subscribe to Xbox Game Pass when it releases next year. Xbox Game Pass is already full of popular games, and while it remains to be seen if Trek to Yomi will live up to expectations, fans will find out when it launches for multiple platforms at a currently undetermined point in 2022.

Trek to Yomi releases in 2022 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
