Transformers: War for Cybertron is only about two weeks away - and today the weight got a bit easier to bear.

Today, High Moon Studios released the mutiplayer demo for the upcoming third-person shooter/vehicular combat Transformers game.

Here's the official information from Major Nelson:

The demo is free to Xbox Live gold members.

While the time I've spent with the game today hasn't strayed too far from our initial hands-on impression, I did fall victim to a number of glitches, a few disconnects, and an all out freeze that could only be remedied by restarting the system. Considering this isn't a beta, but an actual multiplayer demo, the game doesn't exactly demonstrate the clean polish I was hoping for.

I have actually been cautiously optimistic about Transformers: War for Cybertron, ignoring some of the less enthusiastic nay-sayers as well as lack-luster previews. I've been extremely excited for the single player campaign, which appears to finally trade regurgitated multiplayer map "missions" for an actual linear gameplay experience with an intriguing narrative.

However, after playing around in the demo today, I can help but feeling a bit let-down. Sure, this is only a multiplayer demo, which has little direct impact on the single player campaign I was looking forward to the most, but the lack of polish on the public demo (which is meant to excite gamers) worries me - might the single player experience be as poorly tuned?

I guess we'll know soon.

For now, I'd still encourage anyone who may be on the fence about Transformers: War for Cybertron to download the demo. Maybe the issues will get ironed out in the next couple days.
