The Transformers franchise has seen plenty of games released over the course of its near 40-year history, and it may be making the jump into the MMO genre in the near future if some Transformers: Rise leaks prove accurate. The leaks come from a content creator claiming to have insider information about the long-gestating online game, which reportedly began development back in 2011 and has seen at least two developers work on the title. The leaks suggest the game is still very much alive, will tie-in some of the biggest aspects of the Transformers universe, and will piggyback off the franchise's next major film release.

Transformers: Rise is the reported title of the console-MMO said to be in development under the Austin, Texas-based Certain Affinity, an independent developer started in 2006 by several former Bungie employees. The developer has primarily aided multiplayer development for various Halo and Call of Duty games, with additional work done on the original Left 4 Dead and 2016's Doom, though it has released original titles in the form of 2008's Age of Booty and 2011's Crimson Alliance. Certain Affinity reportedly began development on Transformers: Rise in 2017, effectively picking from studio Netdragon after the studio halted development on its Transformers Online game in 2012.

In regard to Transformers: Rise, the new leak comes from content creator RoboGamer1HD, who posted the alleged information on his YouTube channel before making its way to the Transformers Online subreddit. Robo claims the game is not only still in-development, but Certain Affinity has already completed the game and has marketing materials ready to release, while Hasbro is likely to serve as the game's publisher. Robo says Hasbro is waiting to debut the game so it can capitalize on the upcoming film Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.

Robo then goes into what players could expect out of the game's narrative, which he says will revolve around Unicron in some fashion. He said Certain Affinity's initial pitch would have seen Unicron serve as the primary villain and a major raid boss, but balancing issues due to Unicron's massive size forced the studio to "sideline" the villain. Robo adds it is not clear if the reportedly finished game still features Unicron or if the planet-sized robot could appear in a potential expansion.

The final piece of information Robo speaks about are two allegedly leaked cutscenes for Transformers: Rise. One cutscene is said to feature the Autobot Ratchet and Decepticon Shockwave, while the second features Starscream and Optimus Prime. Robo clarifies the potential cutscenes are works-in-progress and do not feature any of the franchise's regular voice cast such as Peter Cullen.

While Robo sounds confident in the information he is sharing, he says it should be taken with a grain of salt as nothing has been confirmed. Players can argue it is a fair statement to make because, despite reports about an MMO Transformers game over the last decade, little appears to have come of it. It doesn't mean Robo's information is incorrect, either, but only time will tell if these leaks turn out to be true.

Transformers: Rise is reportedly in development.
