Last week it was revealed that High Moon Studios is developing a sequel to Transformers: War for Cybertron, a follow-up we knew was coming from information given out at an Activision's investor call last year. After being forced to rush out a weak Transformers game to tie into the release of Transformers: Dark of the Moon in theaters, now High Moon has a chance to get it right once again.

The sequel is titled Transformers: Fall of Cybertron and from the initial unveiling which included fan-favorite character, Grimlock, we know the game is introducing Dinobots. Today, Activision unveiled the firs Transformers: Fall of Cybertron and it again focuses on the Dinobot leader.

It's currently day two of New York Comic-Con and like last year, Activision is there in full force. They've about to reveal that Beenox is working on a movie tie-in for The Amazing Spider-Man after their work on previous Spider-Man games, Shattered Dimensions and Edge of Time and just now, they unveiled our first, albeit brief, look into Fall of Cybertron.

The one important piece missing from this teaser trailer is Grimlock introducing himself : "Me Grimlock." That and an explanation for why there are robots on Cybertron based on the Earthly Tyrannosaurus Rex.

Transformers: Fall of Cybertron is a direct sequel to War of Cybertron and its story will lead into story we know and love from the original animated '80s cartoon where the Autobots and Decepticons flee Cybertron and become stranded on Earth. Below is the official synopsis, which says no more than that:

Transformers: Fall of Cybertron takes fans through the final, darkest hours of the civil war between the AUTOBOTS and DECEPTICONS as they fight for control of their dying planet, ultimately leading to their storied exodus from home.

The big question is whether or not Earth-based missions will be introduced in the sequel - that would at least explain the origins of the Dinobots and lay the foundation for a third installment based entirely on Earth, a la the original cartoon.

Expect more news shortly with the November issue of Game Informer including a 12-page cover story on Transformers: Fall of Cybertron.

Transformers: Fall of Cybertron will release on the PS3 and Xbox 360 in fall 2012.
