Transformers fans and gamers were treated to Transformers: Fall of Cybertron gameplay footage last week which featured Grimlock, the big space T-rex showing off his new moves. After hearing the story of how High Moon Studios game director Matt Tieger had to convince Hasbro to let him bring the Dinobots out of retirement for the War for Cybertron sequel, we could appreciate the game's offerings that much more.

Transformers: Fall of Cybertron's marketing campaign has been led by Grimlock ever since its first teaser and full trailer released. He's taken the spotlight away from Optimus Prime and that's okay because, in the end, they're on the same team. Joining the bipedal, flame-spitting Grimlock are the rest of the Dinobots and Activision wants to showcase them as well with these new screenshots.

The majority of the images feature Grimlock breathing fire, Grimlock eating bad guys, Grimlock breathing more fire, Grimlock holding a sword, swinging a sword and impaling somebody with a sword, Grimlock holding a shield, Grimlock holding a bad guy... you get the idea.

Joining the fearless Dinobot leader - and getting a few images of their own finally - are Slug (Triceratops), Snarl (Stegosaurus) and Swoop (Pteranodon) both in their Dino-forms and in their Cybertronian mode. No image of Sludge, the Apatosaurus. Also notice that Slug has been re-named from the original "Slag."

We've already seen a lot of Grimlock, but the others look spectacular as well. Seeing Slug in dino-form with the Autobot logo on his forehead makes me want the action figure of this version of the character, and I can say the same for Snarl with the blades all up his back. It's like being a kid all over when the original Generation 1 cartoon was airing.

The successor to the highest-rated Transformers game of all time and in development by the acclaimed team at High Moon Studios, Transformers: Fall of Cybertron allows players to experience the darkest hours of the war between the AUTOBOTS and DECEPTICONS as they vie for control of their dying home world. Fans will fight through both sides of the Transformers' most epic battles that culminate in their legendary exodus from Cybertron. With the stakes higher and scale bigger than ever, fans will embark on an action-packed journey through massive, war-torn environments designed around each character's unique abilities and alternate forms, including GRIMLOCK's nearly indestructible T-Rex form and the legendary COMBATICONS combining into the colossal BRUTICUS. Taking the franchise's competitive multiplayer to all-new heights,Transformers: Fall of Cybertron lets fans go head-to-head in blistering AUTOBOT vs. DECEPTICON matches after creating their own unique characters with the most in-depth, advanced customization ever before seen in a Transformers game.

Transformers: Fall of Cybertron releases August 28, 2012 on the PS3 and Xbox 360.
