A new trailer for Team Bondi's latest, L.A. Noire, has released that shines light on one of the pre-order exclusive cases that gamers will have the chance of solving if they purchase the game from Walmart.

Titled ‘A Slip of the Tongue,’ this case has everything that L.A. Noire has been touted as containing: interrogation, evidence gathering, and shootouts.

This particular case, we suspect, will come while protagonist Cole Phelps is working within the Traffic department of the LAPD. Throughout the game, Phelps will make his rise from beat cop to homicide detective, working on a whole slew of cases that range from bizarre murders to simple instances of theft.

It’s when he gets to the Traffic department, an area that should be a cake walk, that Phelps encounters this particular pre-order exclusive case and finds out Traffic isn’t just about helping little old grannies cross the street.

Much like in the trailer for ‘Naked City,’ players find Cole Phelps knee deep in a case that turns out to be much more involved than it seems at first. What appears to be a simple case of a stolen vehicle escalates from questioning witnesses into high-speed chases and adrenaline-fueled shootouts.

Being a trailer comprised mostly of the cut scenes from the exclusive, there is, unfortunately, no better looks at the game’s core mechanics. However, the Motion Scan technology is clearly on display as Phelps asks witnesses/suspects questions, but that is the extent of it.

Gamers intrigued by the storyline of ‘A Slip of the Tongue’ needn’t do anything more than pre-order their copy of L.A. Noire from Walmart — as this is their exclusive mission. There are also other pre-order exclusives being offered by competing retailers, so make your decision wisely. If you are still on the fence about picking up L.A. Noire, despite it being a highly anticipated title for 2011, then fear not because all of the exclusives will become available through download at a later date.

With two orientation videos that have introduced the core mechanics of the detective-based gameplay, Rockstar and Team Bondi have shown all they really need to. Trailers like this one can help make the pre-order conundrum a bit easier, but we really just want to get our hands on the game already.

Did this trailer for ‘A Slip of the Tongue’ convince you to pre-order L.A. Noire from Walmart? Do you plan on buying, renting, or skipping Rockstar and Team Bondi’s latest?

L.A. Noire releases May 17, 2011 for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
