Actress Emily Hahn, the voice actor behind the character of Bonnie in Toy Story 3, recently revealed that she didn’t know Andy was giving his toys away at the end of the film. Nearly a decade after the first sequel, Pixar's beloved Toy Story franchise made a sudden comeback with 2010's Toy Story 3.

The original Toy Story made movie history for being the first completely CGI-animated feature length film, which is hard to imagine now given how much CG animation in general has risen in popularity throughout the last couple of years. However, it wasn’t just Toy Story's supreme animation skills that made audiences fall in love - it was the relatable, lively and incredibly loyal characters that they created. The plot of the first film in the series follows the character of Woody (Tom Hanks), a cowboy doll who belongs to a young boy named Andy. Woody starts to worry when he realizes his number one spot in Andy’s life may be in danger when he sees his parents buying him a new Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen) action figure. The two end up having to settle their differences and come together in order to escape the clutches of Andy’s neighbor, Sid Phillips, in order to get back home. Toy Story's strong themes of friendship, jealousy, and loyalty are main components to the overall connection the franchise was able to develop and nurture with fans throughout all these years.

Due to the fact that both Toy Story and Toy Story 2 received critical acclaim following their theatrical debuts, the bar for Toy Story 3 was quite high, with lots of added pressure as well. Despite the big expectations, Toy Story 3 didn’t let fans down in the slightest. The Pixar film managed to surpass the expectation set for them, gaining even more mass critical acclaim. However, it was also Toy Story 3's shocking and bittersweet ending that fans really didn’t see coming. At the end of Toy Story 3, Woody and Buzz had spent the entirety of the film on a dangerous quest to return home to their kid, only to realize Andy has decided to give all his toys to Bonnie (Hahn). Fans weren’t the only ones who were confused, sad and surprised to see that Andy would pass down his toys to Bonnie - especially Woody. Hahn recently shared to TikTok that even she didn’t realize Andy would be giving his toys to Bonnie, until she had the opportunity to watch the movie in theaters.

She went on to explain that she was not given a full script prior to her voicing the character of Bonnie. Instead, her lines were given to her on the spot. Throughout her TikTok, she explains that Bonnie was only given three, completely out of context random lines towards the end of the film. Bonnie makes comments about Woody and blurts out his infamous slogan, “there’s a snake in my boot.” Other than that, Hahn found out while at the premiere for the movie that Bonnie was in fact going to end up receiving the toys.

This year, Pixar is set to further grow and expand on the Toy Story franchise with the Buzz Lightyear origin film, Lightyear. Fingers crossed the upcoming latest addition to the franchise only further carries out the legacy that Toy Story has established for itself.

Toy Story 3 is now available on Disney Plus.
