Players wishing to upgrade their armor in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will need to seek out the aid of one of Hyrule's Great Fairies. However, the dangers of the world have forced the fairies into hiding, and only the serenade of their favorite instruments will coax them out of their fountains.
Where to Find Great Fairy Cotera in TotK
In Tears of the Kingdom, Great Fairy Cotera can be found near the Dueling Peaks of the Necluda region near the coordinates 1766, -2172, 0013. Until players complete the "Serenade to Cotera" side adventure, she will refuse to open her fountain due to the dangers of the outside world.
If they have completed the previous "Serenade to a Great Fairy" side adventure, players can begin "Serenade to Cotera" at Dueling Peaks Stable located due north of the Great Fairy Fountain around 1750, -1921, 0010.
Players that have previously visited the Eshos Shrine can teleport to it to quickly reach both the stable and the fountain. The assembled members of the Stable Trotters will be rehearing in the amphitheater adjacent to Dueling Peaks Stable.
Serenade to Cotera Walkthrough
Speaking to Mastro the conductor, Link will learn that yet another Great Fairy has hidden herself away within her fountain, and no matter how hard the troupe tries, Cotera just will not come out.
Great Fairy Cotera used to love listening to the troupe play, especially the music of their former drummer, Beetz. Unfortunately, neither Beetz nor his drum has been seen for a good while.
However, Mastro does mention that the sound of a drum was heard along the road from Kakariko Village.
Finding Beetz
Players should follow the road from Dueling Peaks Stable north toward Kakariko Village to reach their destination. They could alternatively teleport to Makasura Shrine in the village and follow the road south.
Around the coordinates 2139, -1380, 0108, players will find a small underpass next to a bend in the road. On the other side, players will find a small campsite with Beetz playing away on his drum.
If players have not yet completed the "Honey, Bee Mine" side adventure, players will find that Beetz has gone off in search of Courser Bee Honey. He says that Mastro has been feeling down lately and believes making some honey crepes would lift his spirits.
Before Beetz can be convinced to reunite with the troupe, players must help him collect ten combs of Courser Bee Honey. Bee hives are plentiful in the nearby forested area or many areas of Necluda.
Once Link has collected enough combs of honey, Beetz will quickly whip up a honey crepe and return to the Stable Trotters at Dueling Peaks Stable.
Repairing Breezer
Mastro will be overjoyed by Beetz's return but will reveal another issue in their way: not only has their wagon Breezer been damaged yet again, but the bridge over the nearby river has been destroyed by debris from the sky.
Players will need to modify Breezer to cross the river using Zonai Devices found near the debris and enough wood to keep the whole thing buoyant.
Creating a motorized boat, as shown above, is one such way that players can safely transport the Stable Trotters across the river.
With Beetz now with them, the troupe will assemble at the Great Fairy Fountain and begin to serenade Cotera.
The rhythm of the drums will encourage Cotera to come out of hiding and thank the whole group for the performance. After the scene that follows, players will be able to visit Cotera at her Great Fairy Fountain anytime to upgrade their armor. The level of the upgrade will depend on the total number of Great Fairy Fountains the player has access to, increasing with each Great Fairy's power.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available for the Nintendo Switch.
