John "TotalBiscuit" Bain will be the first non-pro, non-player inductee into the eSports Hall of Fame. For the uninitiated, the game critic and content creator passed away earlier this year after a four-year battle with cancer, during which he also continued to critique games. In fact, he loved gaming so much that he reportedly talked about Fortnite in his sleep, doing what he loved to the last.

The induction will take place during the ESL One Hamburg 2018 event at the end of the month. Bain boasts a number of accomplishments: he had formed WoW radio, created several YouTube videos and podcasts, and even made a professional StarCraft 2 team. And despite never being a player himself, he left his mark on the eSports scene with his continued support.

He had a large following due to his video commentary on indie titles with his "WTF is...?" series and gaming news analysis. TotalBiscuit was also a strong supporter for consumer protection in the industry, having been involved in everything from the Gamergate controversy to the Gearbox-G2A deal back in 2017.

TotalBiscuit was behind everything from supporting various competitive titles to giving a voice to indie scenes and breakout players. In truth, his contributions to the industry are well-deserving of the posthumous honor as the first non-pro inductee into the Hall of Fame. Of course, he is not sadly here for his own induction, but the 33-year-old game critic was survived by his wife, Genna Bain, and his stepson.

Without a doubt, this will likely warm their hearts to see him honored for something he loved doing, and regardless of how some felt about his manner-of-fact style, there's no denying he loved video games. The ESL One Hamburg 2018 event, where TotalBiscuit will receive this honor, begins in just a few days, live at Barclaycard arena.
