With Sony vowing to regularly release PS2 games on PS4, upscaled and with trophy support, Game Rant looks at 10 games we’d like to see get the emulation treatment.

One of the biggest (and most popular) announcements of 2015 was Sony’s reveal that it would be bringing PS2 games to PS4, upscaled and with trophy support. The news was fantastic given just how many classic franchises and titles the PS2 introduced, but, with just a handful of games having been made available so far (such as Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and The Mark of Kri) there are still plenty of more that could get the emulation treatment.

So, with fingers crossed and lucky horseshoes held near, Game Rant offers this list of the PS2 games we most want to come to PS4.

Bully Scholarship Edition

One of the most controversial games ever made, Rockstar Games’ Bully stars a rebellious teen named Jimmy who befriends and battles all of the typical high school archetypes (jocks, nerds etc.). Although the game made headlines as some said that it “glorifies” bullying, others say that Bully‘s open-world is a showcase of what Rockstar does best and we would love to see it preserved and upscaled on PS4.

Burnout 3: Takedown

Burnout 3: Takedown PS2 PS4 emulation

Burnout fans are eager for Criterion to remaster the PS3/Xbox 360 title Burnout: Paradise, taking them back to where the grass is green and where the girls are pretty,, but 2004’s Burnout 3: Takedown shouldn’t be forgotten. Takedown‘s biggest draw is its titular takedowns, with players encouraged to eliminate opponents by bashing them into barriers or incoming traffic. Upscaled for PS4, that scratched bodywork and those crunched chassis’ could look magnificent.

God of War

God of War Kratos

God of War 3 may have already been remastered for PS4 but what about the game that kicked everything off? With a new God of War on the way, releasing the PS2 masterpiece on PS4 would let fans relive where it all began. If the series is ever to move forward, it would be best to show gamers how Kratos first became the angry bald-headed man that fans love (or hate), taking on the gods in an effort to find forgiveness after being tricked into accidentally killing his wife and child.

Shadow of the Colossus

Shadow of the Colossus Story

Shadow of the Colossus is without a doubt one of the most iconic games in PlayStation history, challenging players to take on hulking colossi in an effort to revive a girl named Mono. An emotional and harrowing tale with some of the finest boss battles in gaming, it’s no wonder why so many would like to see Shadow of the Colossus preserved on PS4.

Final Fantasy XII

Rumor Patrol: Final Fantasy 12 Remaster in the Works? - Final Fantasy 12 logo

The long-awaited Final Fantasy 7 HD remake may be a lot of fans’ retro focus right now but Final Fantasy XII, is also ripe for a PS4 debut. Critically acclaimed upon release in 2006, everything from the game’s art style, to its graphics, combat gameplay, and voicework was recognized. But it’s the sweeping story of six adventurers taking on the Archadian Empire that has us most eager to revisit the world of Final Fantasy 12.

TimeSplitters 2

TimeSplitters 2 PS2 PS4 emulation

The likes of Evolve may have tried to reinvent the wheel with its asymmetrical multiplayer, but many gamers will agree that 2002 title TimeSplitters 2 had some of the best multiplayer gameplay of its era. Offering sixteen multiplayer modes (including the regular team deathmatch and capture the bag [flag] modes) and sixteen maps, the first person shooter was fantastic for wheeling out at parties and would fit in well with the PS4’s existing crop of party games.

Red Dead Revolver

Red Dead Revolver PS2 PS4 emulation

Red Dead Redemption made the Red Dead brand a household gaming franchise but PS2 release Red Dead Revolver wasn’t half bad either. Offering more western action, Revolver features vengeance, shootouts, and a quest for gold; all of the right ingredients for a fantastic adventure in the old west. With gameplay and story sorted, Red Dead Revolver could be even better with the PS4’s upscaling tech.

Persona 4

Persona 4 PS2 PS4 emulation

Massively popular both in and outside of Japan, Persona 4 is one of PlayStation’s most well-loved RPGs. Starring a high school student who investigates mysterious murders and featuring a supernatural plot about television sets that can lead people to their soulmates, Persona 4 is as creepy as it is brilliant. Having spawned a PS Vita remake, several spin-off games, and an anime, fans are hoping that the PS2 game will get a PS4 re-release next.

Star Wars: Battlefront 2

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 PS2 PS4 emulation

As excited as everyone may have been for recent Star Wars game Star Wars Battlefront, fans still have a lot of love for 2005’s Star Wars: Battlefront 2. While Battlefront 2 offers plenty of multiplayer gameplay for fans to sink their teeth into, it also has a story campaign following a veteran Imperial stormtrooper. Given that the latest Battlefront lacked a singleplayer campaign, a PS4 re-release of the PS2 game could help fans fill that void.

Silent Hill 2

10 Scariest Games to Play on Halloween - Silent Hill 2 Pyramid Head

Released all the way back in 2001, Silent Hill 2 follows James Sunderland, who visits the iconic town after receiving a letter from his dead wife. Though more of the game is spent on the puzzle side of things than the combat, Silent Hill 2 still garnered huge critical and sales success upon release and after the Silent Hill HD Collection remasters on PS3 disappointed, many are hoping that PS4 emulation treatment will finally give the game a chance to shine.
