In the latest Top Gun: Maverick preview, Cruise takes on the role of instructor and is seemingly having too much fun on the job. “Easy Maverick. Let's try not to get fired on the first day,” he tells himself as he bypasses his students at extreme speeds in his fighter jet. There are a few repeat shots from the previously released Top Gun: Maverick trailer. Cruise's Maverick is also seen facing his former partner Nick “Goose” Bradshaw's son Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw, portrayed by Miles Teller. It seems like training him will be among Maverick's biggest challenges.

The first reactions from the exclusive Top Gun: Maverick screening have been doing the rounds on social media since Thursday. The few lucky people who were able to watch the film have been praising it ever since, and referring to it as “worth the wait.” Apart from Cruise, the returning cast includes Val Kilmer, who will be seen playing the role of Maverick's arch nemesis Tom “Iceman” Kazansky.

Thursday was a big day for Cruise at CinemaCon. Apart from Top Gun: Maverick being screened for the first time, the actor had an update for the Mission: Impossible fans as well. The official trailer and title of Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part 1 was revealed. Cruise appeared in a pre-recorded message from the set of Mission: Impossible 8 and revealed details on the next installment in the franchise. The ongoing pandemic has affected the release dates of all three upcoming Cruise films. For the Mission: Impossible sequels, filming had to be paused multiple times due to restrictions and positive COVID-19 results among crew members.
