Mortal Kombat X Guest Character

Fans are eagerly awaiting the over-the-top brutality of Mortal Kombat X and, while mainstays of the franchise have been slowly unveiled over the course of several months, we can't help but wonder which guest characters will be featured within the game. Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon has already confirmed that cameo combatants will be involved within the next entry of the gruesome fight title, and has just recently gone so far as to tease Twisted Metal's Sweet Tooth for inclusion in the game.

With all of that in mind, we here at Game Rant have put our heads together to think up five guest characters that would fit the nitty-gritty and hyper violent aesthetic of the Mortal Kombat universe. Past bonus combatants have included the likes of Kratos from God of War and Freddy Krueger from the Nightmare on Elm Street series, which establishes a pretty firm understanding of what NetherRealm Studios looks for in a special guest fighter. With that desire for violent newcomers in mind, here's our list of the top five guest characters we want to see in Mortal Kombat X.

Spawn

Mortal Kombat X Spawn

Created by the legendary Todd McFarlane, Spawn (a character that shares a name with his comic series) would make a perfect addition to the forthcoming installment in the Mortal Kombat franchise. The tragic anti-hero is no stranger to getting his hands dirty, quickly brutalizing criminals whenever he sees fit, and there's very little that would hold him back from doing the same to the likes of Reptile or any other menacing foes. With the ability to transform parts of his body into nightmarish weapons, Spawn makes perfect sense as a guest combatant.

Predator

Mortal Kombat X Predator

There's no debating the lethality of this alien baddie. Since the well-equipped Predator hunts dangerous animals, largely humans, for sport this character's appearance in a Mortal Kombat game could easily be justified – as there's no deadlier game than the participants in an MK tournament. With myriad of armaments in-hand that allow the ferocious beast to cloak, detect heat and impale foes, Predator would easily be a solid match for any of the existing fighters. Besides, anyone who can go toe-to-toe with the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger deserves some serious credit.

Ash Williams

Mortal Kombat X Ash Williams

The star of the Evil Dead series has amassed a cult following over the years – and for good reason. Aside from having a chainsaw for a hand and a bad habit of spilling copious amounts of blood, Ash Williams is actually quite a funny character that would add some much-appreciated comic relief to the gore-filled fighting game. With a boomstick in one hand and a chainsaw as the other, there's no questioning the lethality of this prospective newcomer. We can't imagine what his fatality would be, but there's a good chance it would involve equal amounts violence and slapstick.

-

Rorschach

Mortal Kombat X Rorschach

Despite being unsuited for an appearance in NetherRealm Studios' Injustice: Gods Among Us, there's very little holding Watchmen's Rorschach back from an appearance in Mortal Kombat X. Since he's still a technically a DC Comics character, it wouldn't be any trouble to have the uncompromising vigilante make an appearance alongside franchise favorites like Scorpion, Sub-Zero and Raiden. With a deadly arsenal comprised of an unmatched street fighting prowess, a grappling hook and perhaps even a homemade flamethrower, it's safe to say that Rorschach wouldn't be stuck in the tournament with the cast of Mortal Kombat – they'd be stuck in there with him.

-

Marcus Fenix

Mortal Kombat X Marcus Fenix

As the main protagonist for one of the goriest shooters of all-time, Marcus Fenix seems like a no-brainer for Xbox users. Cliff Bleszinski, the lead designer of the original Gears of War trilogy, originally wanted Fenix to appear as a playable character in the Xbox 360 version of Mortal Kombat 9. Unfortunately the game was too far in development to add the character (and Bleszinski has since left Epic Games), but the possibility has remained etched in our minds ever since. With rumors swirling that Sweet Tooth could be joining the fray as a PlayStation-exclusive brawler, there's no doubt that Xbox owners would be disappointed if they missed out yet again.

That wraps up our list of the top five combatants that we'd love to see make the cut in Mortal Kombat X. There are a heap of additional characters that could join the fight, but we honestly feel like the group we rounded up are some of the most likely (and downright entertaining) fighters that could be joining the series in the next installment. Of course, it's incredibly hard narrowing down a list when there are so many candidates that could really stand their own, so be sure to let us know what you think in the comments section.

What do you think of our list? What guest characters would you like to see added to Mortal Kombat X?
