Tony Hawk's Pro Skater is coming back in 2020. It's not a new game, however, as fans would be understandably wary of that after the last release. Rather, it's a remaster of the original Tony Hawk Pro Skater and its sequel. Many Tony Hawk's Pro Skater fans are excited to revisit what many consider the franchise's best years, and that's not just in terms of the awesome skateboarding gameplay, but also two of the best licensed soundtracks of all-time.

To celebrate the occasion, Activision's social media team has put together a Spotify playlist for the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 and 2 remaster. It features 18 different songs, a selection of the original games' favorites. The list includes songs like "Superman" from Goldfinger and "Guerilla Radio" from Rage Against the Machine, as well as other iconic 90s tracks. Spotify users can check out the full playlist, dubbed The Hawk Mix, right now.

What isn't clear is whether these 18 songs make up the entirety of the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 and 2 remaster soundtrack. In its official tweet regarding the Spotify playlist, Activision says, "Skate to songs from the era-defining soundtrack." In other words, it doesn't say that this is the entire soundtrack, but rather songs from the soundtrack. It's ambiguous enough that it could go either way.

For comparison's sake, the original Tony Hawk's Pro Skater featured 11 songs, or 14 if for those that played the PAL PlayStation or Dreamcast versions. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 featured 15 different songs. That's a good 26-29 songs for Activision to license for the remaster, if it wanted to be complete. It's unlikely that it would do so, however. 18 songs are still more than either of the original games had individually.

Police Truck - Dead Kennedys

Superman - Goldfinger

Jerry Was A Race Car Driver - Primus

New Girl - The Suicide Machines

Here and Now - The Ernies

Euro-Barge - The Vandals

Blood Brothers - Papa Roach

Guerilla Radio - Rage Against the Machine

Pin the Tail on the Donkey - Naughty By Nature

You - Bad Religion

When Worlds Collide - Powerman 5000

No Cigar - Millencolin

Cyclone - Dub Pistols

May 16 - Ladwagon

Subculture - Styles of Beyond, Dieselboy, Kaos

Heavy Metal Winner - Consumed

Evil Eye - Fu Manchu

Five Lessons Learned - Swingin' Utters

Four tracks from the original Tony Hawk's Pro Skater are missing and three from Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2's soundtrack. Those songs are "Evenrude" from Vilified, "Screamer" and "Nothing to Me" from Speedealer, and "Unsane" from Committed. Then there are "Bring the Noise" from Anthrax and Public Enemy, "B-Boy document '99' " from The High & Mighty, and "Out With the Old" by Alley Life. Most are songs that haven't remained well-regarded since the 90s.

In other words, adding some of the missing tracks likely isn't necessary for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 and 2. However, if Activision wanted to try and add some other 90s alternative classics then that might be welcomed. It could also backfire, too. Perhaps 18 tracks will be perfect.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 and 2 releases September 4 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
