Earlier this year, Activision announced that the remastered Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 will finally return to Nintendo systems at some point in 2021, but at the time they gave no set-in-stone date. In a series of Twitter posts, Nintendo of America and Activision confirmed that the game will officially launch for the Nintendo Switch on June 25.

The Switch version of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 was originally announced back in March alongside graphically upgraded versions of the game for next-gen consoles like the Xbox Series X|S and the PlayStation 5. Fans of the series have been eagerly anticipating an official release date for the portable system since its announcement, and it's sooner than some expected.

Despite being announced at the same time, the Switch version of the game will likely not feature many of the graphical improvements of the Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 versions. While it is a modern gaming system, the Switch is not the powerhouse that the new Xbox and PlayStation are, though it is still much more powerful than any system Nintendo has ever released and will run the game with ease – especially considering the game has been optimized for the Switch system.

The Tony Hawk's Pro Skater franchise has seen ups and downs over the years. The series was at its most popular in the early 2000's with the first four entries to the series, and then Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 was critically panned upon release just a few years ago. There have, of course, been spin-off Tony Hawk titles, but the reception to each entry was nowhere near the success of the original four Pro Skater games.

The remastered Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 combines the levels and gameplay of the first two entries of the series and upgrades them with modernized graphics while changing little of the original gameplay. Fans of the original Pro Skater games will find that it plays the exact same way it used to and that the combos and tricks all work the same way. The only difference is how the game looks.

The Nintendo Switch version of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 will make the highly praised remaster playable on-the-go, and it's the first Tony Hawk title to be on a Nintendo system in more than a decade. Aside from slight graphical downgrades natural to all Nintendo Switch ports, fans of the well-known series can expect to play the exact same game as their Xbox and PlayStation counterparts anywhere they can carry a Nintendo Switch.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and, Xbox Series X|S, and will launch for Nintendo Switch on June 25.
