With one of the biggest game releases of September now several weeks/21 years into its existence, players are only now digging up some amazing abilities they never knew were possible. For a game that has had more remakes and remasters than most other games in history, it might come as a surprise that there’s still a ton of things in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 that players still don’t know they can do.

Whether it’s a detail that has been in the game since the original in 1999 or a new feature introduced by the PlayStation remake rockstars, Vicarious Visions, there are plenty of undiscovered elements that will increase players’ skill level and keep them playing for hours more.

10 Recreate Levels From Other Games In Create A Park

Create a park mode

Of course, every player knows that there’s the create a park mode, but the mode is so detailed that players have started successfully building levels from other Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater games. Not only that, but players have branched out to other franchises too, creating maps from Call of Duty, and even building Tony Hawk’s back yard based on aerial views from Google Maps.

9 Create your own playlist

Though it makes no sense why players would want to, as the varied soundtrack full of punk rock and hip hop was one of the biggest reasons fans were looking forward to the game, but people can edit the playlist of songs that are played while skating around the game. Players can choose to completely omit any song, but as every track is completely synonymous with the game, it’d be totally blasphemous to do so.

8 Boneless Gives Players More Air Than An Ollie

The simplest of game mechanics in the Pro Skater series is the Ollie, which players can do by hitting X. It’s essentially a jump on the skateboard, and the Boneless is basically the same, which can be done by hitting Up (Twice) and X.

The reason why Boneless is better is that it catches more air and therefore more time to get tricks in before landing, and it gets players almost double the amount of points too.

7 Skater Size

Tiny skater cheat in School

There is a cheat that’s already built into the game that allows players to shrink into the size of a can of Bud Light. And the pendulum swings the other way too, as players can turn so big that the character barely fits on the screen. It makes a big difference to the mechanics too, as being giant can catch some big air on vert ramps, whereas being small is like controlling a toy car compared to a real one.

6 Cheats And Assists

Though Pro Skater 1+2 is incredibly easy at times, which is one of the biggest criticisms being thrown at the almost perfect game, there are still built-in cheats and assists to aid the player. The biggest assists are turning on perfect balance for manuals, grinds, and lip tricks, which are the biggest reasons for Tony Hawk scraping his chin ten feet across the concrete. Though the cheats are turned off for online modes, it turns those combos into never-ending one-million-pointers.

5 Quick Recover From Bailing

Bailing in School II

The worst thing that can happen in the career mode is bailing 80 seconds in after having built up a record-breaking combo, and then having no time left to complete any goals. But there’s one way to get up quickly after falling off the board, and it saves seconds. If players repeatedly tap Triangle as soon as they see the skater trip up, it’ll leave competitors in the dust. This is one of the best tips for playing the game.

4 Alien Plushies

Unlockable characters have been a staple of the series since its inception, and though there aren’t as many as previous games in Pro Skater 1+2, there are a couple of high profile ones.

But fans have to work to get them; players may have seen these green alien plushies dotted around, with there being one in each level, and the game might be filled to the brim with Easter eggs and hidden details, but this is more than that. Some are easier to find than others, but when players have collected them all, they unlock the Area 51 alien as a playable character.

3 Marseille Secret Area

Marseille is known for being the level where players can rack up some long combos and massive scores. Being a fairly simple level as an outdoor skatepark, it doesn’t seem like a level with secret areas on the face of it. However, if players skate through a boarded up part of the map at the back of the park, they’ll end up in an underground area full of awesome gaps, and there’s even a statue of the Hawk himself.

2 The Hangar’s Secret Area

The secret area in The Hangar would remain largely undiscovered by players without researching, as there aren’t any career objectives to achieve inside of it. In the fan’s favorite half pipe in the game, there is a propellor attached to the wall, and it isn’t for aesthetic reasons. If players grind on the propellor, it’ll open a door in the half pipe and introduce the player to a full room of vert ramps, more planes, and ultraviolet lights.

1 Play online with friends

Tony Hawk’s Pro skater 1+2 Multiplayer

Playing online is one of the worst things about the remake, because it doesn’t let players choose specific game modes and even then, those game modes are limited to high score and combo competitions only. A lot of gamers believe they can’t play with their friends one iota. However, it is possible by pressing on the touchpad and selecting the friend ID, but they’ll still be playing the same high score game mode with randoms, and we are still yet to see an online private lobby where gamers can play with just their friends.
