In an increasing effort to make older games more accessible for its fans, Xbox now has a list of over 500 Xbox and Xbox 360 games that are backward compatible on the Xbox One. Just in time for the release of the latest Tomb Raider game in the long-running series, titled Shadow of the Tomb Raider, next month, Xbox has now also added two classic Tomb Raider games to its list of backward compatible games.

As of yesterday, Tomb Raider Legend and Lara Croft Tomb Raider Anniversary, which were both released on Xbox 360 more than ten years ago, became available for purchase on Xbox One. Tomb Raider Legend is arguably one of the best Tomb Raider games starring the old version of Lara Croft before the series reboot in 2013. With its smooth combat, wide variety of locations that Lara visits, and her extensive wardrobe in the game, it has become one of the fan-favorites in the video game series.

Lara Croft Tomb Raider Anniversary is also a notable game in the series, as it is essentially a remake of the first Tomb Raider game, which sold over seven million copies in 1996. Despite the fact that Tomb Raider Anniversary is not only a remake of Tomb Raider, but also a continuation of Tomb Raider Legend, many praised it as a worthy remake of the original Tomb Raider game, and it is definitely a game that all Tomb Raider fans should have in their collection.

Other Tomb Raider games that are also available on Xbox backward compatibility are Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, which became available at the beginning of this year, and Tomb Raider Underworld which has been part of the catalog since last year. While we wait for the other older Tomb Raider games to join the list of backward compatible games, this is a definitely good time to grab a copy of each and catch up on Lara Croft's adventure before the release of Shadow of the Tomb Raider mid-September.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider launches for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on September 14.
