The Uncharted series has been an incredibly successful gaming franchise and many have high hopes for a film adaptation. While many video-game plots don't translate well in cinema, the frequently praised narrative aspects of Uncharted have made plenty of players wish for a movie of Nathan Drake's adventures. However, Tom Holland who is set to play Nathan Drake has revealed that the film is now facing another delay in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Uncharted series follows Nathan Drake, bar The Lost Legacy, as he hunts down artifacts in an Indiana Jones inspired fashion. The cinematic inspiration for the series has undoubtedly paved the way for a film adaptation, although some are concerned about how the Uncharted story will crossover. Despite some naysayers, filming was set to begin in Berlin.

After several directorial changes, Uncharted looked set to begin and Holland explained, "We showed up for our first day of shooting and they shut us down". With the studio backing the film, it seems likely that the German authorities stepped in to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus and as a result could not host international productions. Although it is a shame that the production of the film looks to be delayed yet again, it seems to be a global consensus that these kinds of actions need to be implemented to stop the virus.

Uncharted in Berlin

There is currently no release date for the Uncharted film, but fans will hope that the production continues as soon as possible. In the meantime, there is plenty of narrative excitement in the Uncharted games to help fans with the wait.
