The first trailer for the Uncharted movie is finally out, and with it comes audiences' first extended look at the video game adaptation over a decade in the making. To accompany this historical occasion (or at least a mildly novel occurrence) Sony just released a companion video alongside the trailer offering a closer look at the film. As probably expected, it's got plenty of expected jabs between its 2 co-stars, Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg

The newly-released Uncharted trailer shows off a number of visuals and sequences fans will instantly recognize from the games, particularly from Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception. From chases across rooftops to a remarkably familiar cargo plane set-piece, the only thing missing from the preview is an extended shot of Elena (apparently not featured in the movie, though a post-credit cameo wouldn't be surprising) navigating through some disaster while wondering aloud how she let Holland's Nathan Drake get her into this situation.

Luckily, there's plenty of back and forth sniping banter between the characters, thanks to the relationship both on and off-screen between Holland's Nate and Wahlberg's Victor "Sully" Sullivan. As shots from the trailer flash by, the two offer their own thoughts on the movie while verbally taking each other down a peg at every opportunity. This results in a surreal stream of Holland doing action movie things while yelling in an American accent intercut with jabs at his co-star in his own native English intonation.

Uncharted stars Holland and Wahlberg in the aforementioned 2 lead roles alongside Grey's Anatomy's Sophia Ali as Chloe Frazer (interestingly appearing before Elena in this continuity), The 100's Tati Gabrielle as new character Braddock, and Antonio Banderas himself as the movie's currently unnamed villain. Based on the trailer, Braddock may be a similar character to Nadine Ross from the gorgeous Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, possibly serving as a sort of enforcer for the film's villain while retaining her own agenda.

The reality is that there isn't all that much being revealed here that hasn't already been seen in the trailer. Holland and Wahlberg are basically just there to lob potshots at each other sandwiched in the middle of footage from the trailer. That's not to say it's not interesting to see them talk about Uncharted, and some of the jokes are admittedly pretty funny. "Just a little charted" may inspire a chuckle or 2 from viewers.

Either way, it's one more path to build anticipation for the movie itself, and considering how long fans still have to wait, maybe it's best to keep that train running as consistently as possible. Uncharted may feel redundant to some, but there's no denying that seeing Nate snark his way through a bunch of set pieces in live-action on the big screen is an intriguing prospect at the very least.

Uncharted is scheduled to be released in theaters on February 18, 2022.
