After an impressive first season that continued expanding the Marvel Cinematic Universe in cosmic directions, Loki season 2 looks like it will see the God of Mischief return for an even more bizarre, thrilling adventure. While it will not be ready to stream on Disney Plus for quite a while, the new season will have its cameras rolling next month.

2021 was perhaps their biggest year yet for the MCU in terms of content released, as the studios' debut of streaming series on Disney Plus expanded the cinematic universe in exciting ways. One of the series, Loki, premiered on Disney Plus last summer and would go on to receive rave reviews from critics and become the most-watched MCU series. The series also became the first Marvel Studios series to earn a second season, something many fans are most definitely looking forward to.

Revealed by Production List, Loki season 2 will have its cameras rolling on June 6 in London, England. The date is not too surprising, as Loki star Tom Hiddleston shared back in April that filming was on track to begin sometime in the summer. Now with a start date confirmed, Loki's second season production will likely last throughout the summer, as filming for season 1 lasted for roughly three months in 2020. And being the first series to have a second season, things should go even more smoothly this time around, especially when the majority of the cast is familiar with one another.

A Kang statue in the Loki season 1 finale

Following director Kate Herron's departure, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige has brought Moon Knight directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead on board, a decision that most definitely seems fitting for the type of cosmic, otherworldly stories presented in a series like Loki. With this, fans can expect an even more bonkers story that will continue expanding on the multiverse and characters such as He Who Remains (a variant of Kang the Conqueror), who was introduced in the first season's finale. Even with Loki's second season still a ways away, the character may very likely appear in another one of the upcoming MCU projects.

While fans were hoping he would show up in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, there's still a great chance he will appear in Thor: Love and Thunder, a film that releases in July and one where it would make sense to see him reunite with his on-screen brother, Chris Hemsworth's Thor. Until he shows up again, fans will just have to relish in Loki's first season all over again while getting hyped for season 2.

Loki season 1 is available to stream on Disney Plus.
